Captain Bankston went above and beyond to make sure we had an epic 5 hr family fishing trip.  Trophy fish were hard to find but the Captain stayed at it and put us on an absolute honey hole. All the kids were reeling in fish for a good constant hour. Included in our trip luckily was dolphin sightings and perfect weather. Would book another trip with Taylor Bankston next time I’m in town. The guy goes above and beyond to make sure everyone on the boat is enjoying themselves. Great day on the Gulf!

What an awesome trip!  Captain had us on the fish one the way out trolling and got 2 before we even got to our spot.  Then the action was nuts while we were out there on the honey hole.  Got all kinds of great bites and fights.  Then on the way back - nailed a couple more trolling.  Got to see some crazy experimental Navy ship buzz right by us - the Sea Fighter (FSF-1)!!  What a sight THAT was!!!  We will be back for sure - and you should go too!

Where to begin!!! If you are looking for a great time and a captain that will do absolutely whatever it takes to get you on fish, get them in the boat, laugh the whole trip and feel like you’ve know the guy you’re whole life Captain Taylor is your guy who runs “Get the Gaff”!!! I’ve been coming to Destin Florida for 27years and been taking charter fishing boats out since I was 8years old. I’ve never met a more genuine captain then Taylor. We were working with 15mph winds this morning and the lowest temperatures Destin has seen all summer at 63 degrees with a pretty cold wind chill. Started off chasing tuna and ended up with Bonita which was a good warm up for the monster King Mackerel we caught which was our personal best weighing in at 29lbs and 49inches long and not long after my girlfriend caught a 19lb 40inch king mackerel! It was memory that will last a lifetime all because captain Taylor. He definitely made our vacation one to remember!

Captain Taylor gave us such an enjoyable fishing experience we decided to go out a second time with him while on our 7 day trip to Destin. Captain Taylor was everything you’d want in a captain; punctual, responsible, knowledgeable, friendly, and prepared. He was good with our kids, keeping them baited up and helping to anticipate their fishing needs. The boat was clean and spacious enough for our family of five and the Captain freely move around. It handled well in the bay and in the gulf.  He kept a good pace of moving between a few different spots so we could catch a variety of different fish. We caught red fish, red snapper, cobia, Spanish mackerel, barracuda, yellow fin tuna, and hooked a mahi mahi but didn’t get it in the boat.  We were able to see dolphins and some giant manta rays which were an added bonus. Captain Taylor filleted our fish before we left the dock and sent us on our way with some recipes and tips for cooking our catch.  It was an incredible experience and we will be in touch with Captain Taylor the next time we are in Destin!

Our trip started with a warm welcome from the captain, he explained to my wife and I what we were going to go and try first and continued to do so every step of the way. We started off catching our bait, if you enjoy fishing at all you’ll understand this was just as much fun. Once we caught our bait we headed to one of the captains spots searching for the Amber Jack… and boy did we!!! I have never been so physically exhausted after I reeled this 40 lb amber jack in… mind you, this was the first fish on the line and was within the first 10 minutes of us showing up to the captains fishing spot. The captain knew exactly what he was doing because we were literally the only boat in the area catching fish, but I was impressed to see how humble he was by sharing some tricks with the other captains around. Seeing how excited the captain was about my amber jack had my wife and myself pumped up and ready for more. We caught another amber jack but wasn’t a keeper… still fun as anything I’ve ever done. We then trolled trying to fish for some Tuna and King Mackerel, my wife landed a Tuna and just as the captain was going to pull on board it slipped off the line. We made it to a reef and caught several red snapper which was so cool because of just how beautiful the fish were.
Overall the Captain was one of the best captains I have ever fished with, very knowledgeable, extremely humble and just all out nice and respectful. You can tell fishing is his passion as well as doing his very best to make the customers trip
Memorable. We will be returning to Destin again this summer and will only be calling him up for any of our many future fishing trips.
