Mike and his team were super easy to work with and communicated everything we needed well before our trip out on the water.

We were literally on fish within 15 minutes of getting out of the harbor! And it was catching fish most of the day. Captain Mike was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful to 3 teenagers who had not been fishing in the ocean before. He went out of his way to make the everyone feel safe and totally prepared for catching a ton of fish.

If there’s a better, more experienced captain I’d be surprised. Bottom line, it was a great day on the water. We’ll definitely be back to fish with Mike and Bubba Jean!

I’ve fished on many sport boats and a few private charters, but fishing with Captain Mike on Bubba Jean is a whole nother level. From the custom rods and reels to the giant bait tank with a view window the entire boat is top notch. Mike has the bot ready when I showed up and we were out of the dock in short order. Grabbed some healthy looking bait and made our way offshore. I’m not exactly sure what area we ended up in, I just know that Captain Mike was constantly looking for signs of fish. We stopped on a few dry paddies and then about 4 or 5 dry kelps later our persistence paid off and it went wide open on Dorado! Got our boat limit quickly and went in search of something else.  Never found the right school of tuna, but did manage to scrape up a few on jig stops. Ended up with some fresh dodo and some sashimi! Totally epic trip. Would absolutely book with Mike again!

Terrific experience with Bubba Jean Sportfishing.  Captain Mike was incredibly knowledgeable and made the half day of fishing a really enjoyable experience for me and my two sons (ages 19 and 16).  We got several fish and had a great Bass Dinner that night!

My wife and I had a great time fishing for the first time together. Our experience with Captain Mike was was one of the highlights of our vacation to the San Diego area. With near perfect weather, Mike provided his expertise and knowledge of his craft, and history of the waters, throughout our 4 hours fishing trip.
