The captin and crew were not prepared for the morning trip out, no bait no ice… The trip was to leave the dock by 6:00am. We departed 6:30. Drove around over an hour looking for bait. Rip off!! short trip to the north jetties. Arriving around 8:30 and leaving at 11:00 am. $550 dollars trip 100.dollar tip. Five small trout. Never again.
We can’t control bait shops running out of shrimp with 5ft seas the shrimpers don’t go out. We try our hardest to be prepared customers have no idea what goes on behind the scene we were at doc at 5 am looking for bait making calls and searching our only choice was to hunt down a dragging shrimp boat as did 5 other charter captains. We also can’t control weather and high seas which make fishing very tough. I’m sorry you had a bad trip due to no bait on the whole island and high seas.
I charter fish all the time. Never have I been on a trip where the fish finder was broken and there were only 3 rods for 4 people. We were told to take turns fishing. We were not allowed to cast our on rod. So basically we drove 4 hrs to watch some guy fish. Chumming the water to catch baby sharks you can’t keep is not fishing. I could have done that from the pier!!
sorry you feel you had a bad trip sometimes the fishing mid day is tough in 100 degree weather all charter boats we know had a tough trip we had plenty of rods on the boat but only 3 shark rods which was the only fish biting the currents were screaming and the conditions were terrible you left a 2 star review on a brand new boat 2016 model with all new electronics and a1 star on a 15 year veteran captain. That was undeserving if anything leave a review on terrible conditions and fish not cooperating we always try our best. Again sorry for terrible conditions and bad fishing.
