Not the best fishing experience
Some days fish just don't bite...that was the case on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. That was not Captain Javier's fault. He actually kept us out an hour past our scheduled time to have a greater chance of hooking a tarpon. We could see them jumping all around us, but they outsmarted us for five hours. We were disappointed, however, at how the excursion was structured. We live on the coast of North Carolina and fish from our own vessel six months out of the year. We are disappointed that we didn't have the opportunity to touch a rod during the five hours. I'm guessing that if Javier had hooked a fish, then we would have the opportunity to reel it in. That is not a palatable experience. Maybe asking us if we'd like to try our hand at fishing would have improved our experience. Instead, we sat in the sun and watched Javier bait and cast, which was strictly a passive sport. We could have been watching ESPN. If you want to be actively engaged, this may not be the boat for you. Javier is nice and friendly but not talkative or engaging. The boat was clean and well-stocked for fishing. Beware - if you are fishing in the afternoon, use bug spray after 4:00 p.m. No-see-ums are no joke. Jan and Jim Tillman
