Great Trip on a Great Boat with a Great Captain

5 Hour Trip (PM)3 adults

Me, my wife and my 19-year old son had a terrific day on the water with Captain Silva. We booked a half day afternoon trip and at his prompting adjusted the time to a 10am start as his schedule was open. First of all, Captain Silva is just a genuinely nice guy. His boat is in great condition and well taken care of. We showed up, got a tour of the boat and a safety briefing, then we picked up bait from the bait barge and headed out. We had lines in the water by about 10:30. We fished near shore, just off La Jolla. Things started out a bit slow with a couple small calico bass, but by about noon I had hooked a Yellow Tail. I'm missing some of the pictures and will try to post later. I'm not an expert fisherman by any stretch, but Captain Silva was right there calmly talking me through it for the next 15 or 20 minutes as the fish drug out line and fought the good fight. We successfully landed that Yellow Tail, easily the largest fish I've ever caught. The rest of the day brought in a dozen our so calico bass and my son caught a really cool looking red and black Sheeps Head. We had a great experience. If you have a crew looking to get crazy, drink a bunch and go wild, Captain Silva might not be your guy. But if you have a family, even one with young kids, or just a group of people looking for a great day fishing with a Captain and a guide who knows his stuff, I highly recommend Silva Scales N' Tales! I don't think you'll find a better boat or a better guy to take you out.

    Amazing trip with Captain Mike

    1-2 PASSENGER- 9 Hour Coronado • 2 adults

    I booked a trip with Captain Mike for my Son and I. The boat is comfortable and spacious. Captain Mike has all the gear you need for all different types of fishing to maximize the chances to catch a variety of fish. The boat is quick. Getting you on the fishing grounds in no time...There are drinks and snacks provided as well. Captain Mike is very communicative and transparent. Very friendly and accommodating. He goes above on beyond to get you all the fish on your bucket list. He is very helpful and open to teaching you some fishing information if you are interested. My son is getting into fishing and Captain Mike spent time talking to him and giving him some pointers on rigs, spots to fish and techniques. From my perspective that is wholesome and amazing. It set a last impression on my son and he was out fishing the following day. The reality of fishing is sometimes those fish just dont bite. For us it didnt matter. We had a blast out in the water hooking up on plenty of other species of fish we never caught before. Some we never knew about we wanted on our bucket list and a few surprise catches as well. I highly recommend booking a fishing trip with Captain Mike. I promise you will not be disappointed.

    Great Day with Captain Mike

    9 Hour–Coronado Adventure! • 2 adults

    It is very clear Captain Mike cares about his clients. We spent the morning trying to find the fish, which we eventually did. Once that happened we pulled a large number of Mahi and Yellowtail into the boat. It was non-stop for several hours there, and we did very well. Mike is friendly, knowledgable and just a great guy. Would definitely do a charter with him and his boat again. His boat is also very fast, saving a bunch of time getting to where we needed to go and getting back to the marina as well.

    Amazing adventure!

    Full Day Trip – Inshore • 4 adults

    we have charted fishing boats all over the country. Captain Mike knows where the fish are and how to catch them! The boat is well equipped with a nice cabin (with bathroom) and a smooth and fast ride, which allows us to get to the fishing grounds way before anyone else! Plenty of seats and very comfortable. We not caught tons of fish, and saw sea lions and even a whale. We will be back! highly recommend!

    What an amazing day out at the Coronado Islands with Captain Mike Silva! The water was beautiful and the fishing didn't disappoint — landed a solid yellowtail, which made the whole trip. Mike knows these waters and put us right on the fish. Great crew, great scenery, and a perfect day on the water from start to finish. If you get the chance to fish the Coronados with Mike, take it — highly recommend!
