Nags Head has always provided great fishing, but donโt expect it to be easy in the middle of summer. The better fishing, in my experience has been in the spring or later in the summer/fall.

This was our first time fishing in Manteo, we caught a quantity of small fish that will be perfect for dinner, which was our goal. We also took and hour to go for another type after we had the quantity that we were looking for. It was a great experience, a little different than we expected, but a good time was had by all. We know it is early in the season so we did anticipate to have less options as far as what was biting.

We were hoping to catch a bit more fish, but the weather was maybe a bit too perfect with no current whatsoever. Still able to bring in speckled trout, gray trout, flounder, red drum and had a couple of blues get away.

Big game fish are 40 miles out so plan an all day charter. Inshore fishing is fast and furious and fish are smaller. Fun nonetheless!
