Maine Atlantic Mackerel Fishing Charters

Rise and shine! On this trip, you'll target Striped Bass, Bluefish. Atlantic Mackerel, and more. Rods, reels, tackle, and fish cleaning are all included in the price. Just be sure to bring an extra layer of clothing, comfortable shoes, food, drinks, (beer and such ok) and the captain will take care of the rest. This trip is for 5 people.

Our 2.5-hour family fishing trip offers a fun and exciting introduction to ocean fishing for beginners, families & kids (ages 7+). PLEASE NOTE*** If you are looking for big game charters or to fill your freezer with catch to take home, there are many other great Maine guides who specialize in Tuna, Striper, Shark, or Haddock trips. We will target a variety of different inshore species depending on the time of year, including Cod, Pollock and Mackerel, after which we will haul our lobster traps.

These are family friendly trips that are great for anglers of any age but are especially popular younger anglers. On these trips we stay close to shore and fish for Mackerel, a small fish often used as bait for many other species of fish. We use special Sabiki rigs that have many hooks on a single line, allowing us to catch many fish on one cast. We also use a specially designed Sabiki Rod that allows the hooks to be reeled directly into the hollow rod making it much safer for younger hands.

I love mackerel fishing. It's a great way to introduce youngsters to fishing. Always lots of action. It's not uncommon to catch 6 mackerel on one cast. You'll witness a real working harbor. We'll pass lobster boats and offshore vessels. Once out of the harbor we'll head out to Whale Boat Island. This is a prime spot where schools of Mackerel spend the summer fattening up on bait fish. We will see harbor seals and porpoises right along the boat. And witness Lobsterman hard at work pulling lobsters from sea
