Conveniently located on the Cancun hotel zone you don't have to travel far to get a world class inshore fishing experience. We fish inside the lagoon called the Nichupte Lagoon. We do not go out to the ocean so you'll be fishing in calm waters mostly close to the mangroves. The boat rides are short so you'll get maximum fishing time. We fish for Baby Tarpon and Snook year round and in the summer months Bonefish and Permit as well. There's an additional dock fee/national fee of 15 per person upon check-in.

Tarpon fishing in Mexico draws anglers to shallow bays, mangroves, and flats where these powerful game fish hunt. Tarpon are famous for explosive strikes and high jumps. Mexico offers calm inshore waters, skilled local guides, and a long season with both resident fish and migrating schools.

You will target Tarpon with inshore fishing on clear flats and in the backcountry. Captains often pole skiffs to spot fish, then help you cast ahead of the school. Fly fishing with simple streamers works well, and spinning with live bait or soft plastics is also effective. Your guide will explain leaders, knots, and safe handling before you start.

Most trips run at first light, when Tarpon feed near the surface. Expect a smooth ride in a shallow skiff and short moves between spots. This is great for beginners who want action close to shore, and for seasoned anglers chasing a personal best. Bring polarized sunglasses, sun protection, quick-dry clothing, and a hat. Ask your captain what gear is included and if water or snacks are provided.

Mexico’s top Tarpon areas include the northern Yucatán coast and its mangrove lagoons, the flats around Isla Holbox and Isla Blanca, and the rivers and estuaries along the Gulf of Mexico. The Caribbean side offers clear sight-casting on turtle grass flats, while Gulf lagoons hold “baby” Tarpon in sheltered channels. Conditions can change with tides and weather, so guides plan around the best windows.

Before your trip, check current license and permit rules and ask about seasons, harvest, and tackle requirements. Many charters practice catch and release for Tarpon to protect the fishery. Your captain will explain local regulations and best handling practices on the day of your trip.

    Mau is great!

I booked two days, one for myself and my girlfriend and one of just myself. Mau did a great job of putting both of us on fish the first day. The second day he got me on some tarpon and had taught me how to properly double haul fly cast. would recomend.

    What a great experience

the fishing was hard going but the captain worked really hard to try and put us on the fish. We ended our session with a small barracuda and a mangrove snapper (and lost a tarpon), but we were just pleased to catch. What an experience it was exploring the mangroves!

    Son caught his firt tarpon!

Went late June and caught a tarpon our last cast. Captain was awesome and could spot them easily just looking at the waves. My son is an avid fisherman and know his stuff, but still couldnt see them like he could. Strongly reccomend taking the 6 hour trip as give you more time to search for live bait.

    Awesome Experience!

We had an amazing time out on the water and it was a blast, the conditions couldnt have been better. Even though the fishing was slow my wife caught a tarpon almost as big as she was! That fish made the entire trip and we cant thank our guide Mau enough. He was absolutely great and very insightful, we would recommend this trip to anyone looking to have a great time out on the water and to catch that fish you’ve been dreaming of!
