Wear shorts and flip flops due to wading to dingy to take you to the boat. Be prepared to take fish home with you.

we looked for a in-shore boat that provided cover from the sun - Costa Rica is only 8-12 degrees north of the equator the sun is very hot and very bright - bring good sun glasses preferably ones that cover the sides or wrap around -

Sign up for fishing trip with Capt Henry Reyes and First Mate William on the Allin Sportfishing - 28’ Mako. This crew and outfit helped our crew of three first time deep sea anglers haul in a catch of 1 Mahi Mahi, 2 Sailfish, and 2 Red Snapper. It was a great day on the water and an unforgettable experience.

Don't go crazy the night before. Eat a good breakfast. Hydrate all day and make sure to bring a camera.

In January, fishing out of Jaco for sails and marlin is usually quite good...especially on the larger boats going out 30-40 miles. But if you are interested in only dinner fish like grouper and snapper, I would recommend just a half-day trip on a smaller boat fishing more inshore.
