Brayden was an exceptional guide. He had us on the fish in no time and provided us with so much helpful information. Brayden’s friendly and professional personality made this trip safe fun. We would highly recommend!

If I could book again, I'd book a whole day. The morning was great for catching bait, but the bite on the big fish didn't start until our time was nearly up. Fortunately, we did walk away with a ton of fish to eat.

Kauai's seas seem rougher than other areas we've been and significantly deeper. Trolling seems to be the only option. We prefer bottom fishing or jigging so we are actually fishing. Kauai was not the right place for us. Very disappointed.

If it’s a big swale bring a towel to dry off.
Please only have fish cut that you will eat while visiting the island. I learned that captain Austin shares the catch so all is eaten not wasted. Have patience and be kind.

We only trolled which was a surprise since we thought we would try different variants of fishing. Maybe we misinterpreted or had wrong expectations. We practically went on a boat trip for 5 hours not holding a single rod or touching any equipment. Without being active or part of the fishing, seasickness was luring the whole time. Nice views and we learned a lot from our captain about deep sea fishing but our engagement was minimal.

If you do not fish in small boats on the ocean often, I would recommend getting something to avoid sea-sickness. My family typically is not prone to motion-sickness, but we sure got sea-sick this time. I'd do this trip again, but I'd take some kind of sea-sick medication first.

If the idea is to catch fish, there are definitely fish out there. The family that was out there on Captain Harry's boat before us caught four nice size tunas, we caught one. For us on our trip, the weather was great, the waves were not too high, no one got sea sick, and it was a great way to spend four hours.

Its definitely wavvy out there so maybe plan for motion sickness even if you arent prone.

Get fishing license the day before the trip. You can only be purchased online. This license is required for all out of state anglers for ocean fishing.
Emily Vanley
They called and made sure we were prepared for our trip. The weather made the water choppy but we were fully prepared because they called.
Dee Chassé
Didn’t really get to hold a pole so book private charter so you can at least have a chance to catch a fish
Bill Ruhf,
Give AKS a good look when deciding where to go… They will do a great job but be aware it IS called fishing not catching. ?
Dan Bergstrom Noel
Definitely recommend if you’re on the north shore…it’s so much closer than leaving from anywhere else.

November is late in season, meaning unpredictable weather and more waves that can interfere with your trip

Expect bumpy waters most of the year….For someone who fishes a lot on boats, in rough waters and never gets sick…This was not the more comfortable ride.
Jeff Schiller
Ocean was rough so take Dramamine if you get motion sick easily. Sky was clear and overall the weather was great.
Christopher Miller
The water was a bit rough but our boat and the other boats in the region were pulling in some big tunas - up to 180 lbs.

Get in touch with Captain Austin from Aloha Kaua’i Sportfishing before the trip to be well prepared on what to expect.
John Hill
Bring rain gear, it rained the entire trip. Not like in the North East were it’s cold but a light rain jacket would have been great.
