What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Lihue, Hawaii for the first time?

Summer is busier for a reason. We knew it would be a roll of the dice if the fish would be biting since we came during the off-season. While we didn’t catch any today, it doesn’t mean someone else won’t tomorrow. That’s part of the excitement and pride when you actually bring one home.

Be certain to ask as many questions of the Captain prior to your departure regarding the number and ages of any children that you may consider taking on your charter and the amount & type of provisions/snacks that will be provided depending on the length of your trip. People that may be sensitive to motion sickness should certainly bring medication because the first mile or so out of the harbor we experienced some ruff water but eventually smoothed out once we were further out to sea.

There is a great bite but small fish. Where there’s small fish there’s big fish tho! Capt said fishing is very hit or miss right now, so you catch what you can and hope for the big one! Coming back for my 100 lb’er

The waves are big, so lots of tossing and turning. If you get seasick at all, take Dramamine. This is not a trip for the frail

Weather can be a factor. Fishing is always fun catching is even more fun. Just enjoy and make memories.

The captain talked to us at the beginning but not again until the end. The deck hand was super friendly but we didn’t catch a thing. It was quite frustrating. It turned out to be a high priced whale watching trip.

Fishing was good today, but it’s still fishing. Never know if the fish will bite.

It was a good experience. We didn’t get a lot of hits, but we landed what was hit.

The ocean was rougher than expected. My brother and dad both felt sea sick and took some Dramamine. That helped.

Be prepared for some rough seas, though, as a few of us experienced sea sickness. Despite that, we highly recommend this adventure!

Every fishing trip is fun. Sometimes it is a day anglers dream of! That is the day we had- the fishing day of a lifetime!

We had a great day and caught a bunch of fish. Please note that we have had trips without catching anything, it is that way sometimes. You will enjoy this crew and this boat regardless

I would recommend sun glasses we forgot ours. And a cooler with ice to bring any meat back home. Unless you never get motion sickness the 4 hour trip is perfect. Other wise takes 8 hour trip.

I did not have any set expectations as this was my first trip to Lihue - was satisfied with the results

From my understanding is that February might be a slightly better month to fish in Hawaii.

Sure! I think fishing was a little slow the morning we went but that’s fishing.

Be prepared for rough waters in July. At least for us it was. Fish were not biting at all.

I recommend the full day when fishing in the winter. You have to go farther out to find the fish
