What would you recommend to anglers fishing in St. Thomas for the first time?

Wear shoes that have good traction, pack non spray sunscreen, and do not forget to drink water. If you are known to get sea sick I recommend taking ginger capsules before you get on the boat to calm your stomach

If you’re fishing with children book a half a day trip take snacks catch a lot of fish. Do you know what you’re doing? Doing all day trip go out and catch some big fish deep water come back in. Do some bottom fishing and get some snapper. Call it a day.

Pretty rough waters for people who get sea sick easily. We were nearshore, and it was very rough. Can't do anything about that. Must be the waters here in St Thomas. Wished we could have went after bigger fish.

Rough waters for going off shore on day of trip (6- 10 foot swells). Warned ahead of time and we still chose to go. Our family weathered it fine as we are an experienced fishing family. Our youngest is 10 - if rough, NOT advised for anyone younger. We hit the tuna jackpot and had a blast!!! ? worth it!!

Know what’s in season and understand that if you’re going for wahoo or mahi-mahi it’s a lot of trolling and time between bites. If you’re willing to target the species that are around in numbers (tuna, rainbow runners, jacks, etc) you can have non-stop action. Also bring sunscreen, you’ll need it.

Go to Captain Eric Anaclerio, by far the best. There’s a reason he only has 5 star reviews. I thought it was odd but I totally understand now. Don’t regret it book him for your trip. Great with kids or just adults. The best!!!

Explore, find the fish. It’s high risk high reward out here if you’re fishing from shore. One spot might be nothing but needlefish (hound fish) the other might have so many 25-40” tarpon you’re guaranteed to find a hungry one. 3 stars because access is tough and from shore the variety is pretty low.

st. Thomas was the best deep sea fishing that I’ve had so far, I highly recommend it, especially with Captain Erik

there is still fish around to catch but what i was told was the bigger game fish run in june-july but for a short trip to st. thomas it was great fishing and catching fish

Just be aware that it’s fishing not catching! You never know what you will get. But we got great fish!

call Captain Brian and be flexible. They know where the Fish is on the bite and where it's not usually.

Very first time and experienced fisher friendly. You can sit back and enjoy the waters or just fish as soon as they dropped the lines we caught a mahi & barracuda!

This is a local trip fishing wrecks and reefs.. Bryan is an excellent captain . The boat is just as described.

So happy we booked with Captain Eric! We all caught fish (group of 6) and we all had a great time! Captain Eric is an experienced captain and angler, you won’t regret booking this trip!

It’s better later in the season but it’s still a great time and will be catching fish no matter what

Anytime you’re on the ocean fishing in February is a great day. Mahi mahi are my favorite fish but they weren’t in season. We did catch a bunch of other kinds which was awesome.

It’s harder work than u think!! Reeling in a shark or anything takes some arm muscle but the captain Eric helped us when our arms failed.

A couple fish we caught were out of season. Everything really was great though, weather, sea and wind conditions. We really had a great day!

Take the charter out with Captain Erik. He is amazing and super knowledgeable but also understand that he nor anyone else can predict weather or if the fish are biting.

Exceeded our wildest dreams for our first family experience in guided fishing. It really helps that you are in 1000’ deep water about 30 minutes from shore.

Be open to several species being caught. The waters temp is inviting to many types of fish.

Ask for deep water to get big fish. Take Dramamine the night before and day of. Really hydrate!!
