What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Placida, Florida for the first time?

Go to Reel Time Charters, Captain Russ Hanley knows the waters and how to catch fish. Made my first time amazing. I can't wait to share this with my kids.

The tide was coming in and it was really windy. Fishing was good. Higher tide would have made fishing better.

Bring sun protection and if you are on this charter, bring some muscles to reel in the fish.

While it seemed that the dock talk while waiting was that the fishing was slow we still caught plenty of fish and had enough to take some home. Overall we caught over 6+ species.

Check to see that the tarpon are in before booking. We had fun successfully fishing for Red Fish and Trout in the sound, but initially booked for Tarpon.

It's winter. A hit and miss on weather don't have expectations above what the time of year can provide.

It’s pretty hot, boat shoes and sun shirts were a good idea. Definitely recommend polarized sunglasses. The captain has almost everything else!

If you are wanting fish to take home with you, it’s not a good time of year. We caught a lot of fish, but were too small to keep.

Captain Ron was great! Perfect location and was able to catch sharks and enjoy our trip! Brought my 10 year old daughter for the first time and was perfect!

Make sure to ask where to park when using the public Marina in order to avoid getting a parking ticket.

Not enough parking for cars. Got a ticket for parking in a trailer spot but there is only 6 spots for cars. Going to court for the ticket.

Snook fishing was excellent, tarpon bite wasn’t on. Captain recommended mid-April to end of May as best for tarpon

Go with an experienced Captain!! Captain Derek of Silver King Fishing Charters is very knowledgeable of the area and will put you on FISH!!

If you’re not used to the sun, there’s nowhere to get away from it. Long pants, long sleeve shirts and wide brim hats will make your day more pleasant.!

I am not experienced fisherman, but going early is better, as you miss the heat. And 100% go with an experienced guide.

Sunscreen and a nice fish coating for the trout cause it's amazing. And of course captain Bryce Green.

Bring Lots of Sunscreen, Water, & Snacks. Long sleeve spf shirts. Captain has everything else.

Book a short water trip before you waste money in renting a boat and trying to find fish yourself.
