What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina for the first time?

We lucked out with weather on our trip but captain mentioned conditions weren’t so favorable the previous weekend. If you’re hoping to catch a lot of fish wait until a few weeks after any storms have passed through. We got lucky and we’re still able to catch a decent amount considering how the water was thanks to Ger’s expertise!

It’s called fishing for a reason, not catching! Beautiful days don’t always mean plenty of fish. Enjoy the view, respect the ocean, have fun while doing so! This time of year brings in plenty to catch, especially for the younger crowds.

We can’t say enough good things about our time fishing in Wrightsville Beach! We had a blast spending the afternoon on the water catching Spanish Mackerel and several other fish! The sea sting is the top right boat 42 ft cubby cabin nice toilet area spacious comfortable seating and to get up and move Captain Jess's knowledgeable of the reefs and we had a great time. And as a former first mate my first job was on a diet boot fishing boat I wish we had a boat nice as his can't wait to go back

We didn’t find the reds today, but had too much fun with the mackerel, blues, and false albacore. Nice views of the marsh, Masonboro Island, Wrightsville Beach, porpoise pods, birds…. Lovely time. Excellent captain!

I suggest booking early to mid week, many captains can accommodate for less than ideal conditions at later or earlier time.

Fun to be out on the water but sometimes the summer conditions make getting on a specific fish difficult.

Guion can make the experience whatever you want from young kids to seasoned fishermen. All great.

This is a great trip especially for beginners or those who are not into baiting and holding the rod. Ger did all the work, just had to reel it in.

You can’t do anything about the wind or weather that can make fishing tough. The captain moved us around to get chances at fish but ultimately the wind just made it a tough day.

You're definitely going to catch fish! You might not catch what you're after, but you'll be in for a decent fight no matter what. My arms are still sore

Rated low, only because it was NOT the trip we booked or expected, there were list of less expensive shorter options for inland fishing

You can’t go wrong with fishing off of the coast of North Carolina only way it gets better is if you go to Florida

Go out with Capt. Jesse, Lumina Fishing Charters. You’ll have a great time and you’ll feel like a pro.

Take a half day fishing trip with Captain Jesse - this was our 1st time - we were visiting from NYC.

Go early…i can’t imagine an afternoon charter is anything but hotter with higher risk of storms!

Everything was great Captain was excellent the boat and the equipment was excellent unfortunately my time frame and the weather did not match but you can't change Mother Nature

We caught fish but not a variety that time of year. Would also recommend all day trip as fishing for variety may be better farther off shore.

Research what fish are running at the time of your trip and make sure that's what you want to catch.

The Captain said that he was able to catch some fish in the morning trip but due to the reason of the inclement weather it drove the fish deeper. Over all a good Captain and trip.

I would recommend a couple hour charter to find out whether you prefer short and sweet or longer further off shore fishing..

Recommend an early morning outing rather than mid-day--particularly in July. If the fishing gets slow, Wrightsville is a beautiful area to view from the water.

Definitely start with a half day trip, then if you have a blast like we did, you'll know what you'll want in the future and can make plans to meet your goals with the Captain.

It was a beautiful day definitely hot. The parking is a little difficult and I would recommend going early just for parking issues.

Shark fishing was alot of fun. Did not realize we would troll for live bait but it was worth the effort.

Apparently the storm pushed the fish further off shore. Trolling wasn’t successful but we got some results from bottom fishing. It’s called fishing not catching.

Make sure to touch base with your Captain to review all the snacks, drinks, clothing items you might need or want to have with you on your trip.

We fished in late April, we would recommend late May or June when bigger fish are running.

Look up Captain Big Fish charters! Make sure to apply and reapply lots of sunscreen.

Just come and have fun, the fish will come. Also wear sunscreen because it’s hot hot!!!
