What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Wilmington, North Carolina for the first time?

When choosing a guide READ CAREFULLY on what they offer. These trips can get expensive so make sure you book with whoever will do the type of fishing you’re looking for. On my first trip I paid $600 and never picked up a fishing rod once. The guy trolled in circles for hours. Also try and check the forecast before booking. Water temps, tide and wind are huge when fishing

Have fun, relax and listen to Captain Joe on how to properly reel in the fish in order to keep fish on the hook and get the fish into the boat. There’s some room to move around and allows for a good fishing experience in sharpening angler skills with the center console layout. 4 fisherman would be the most people fishing in my opinion to get more turns at reeling in fish. Obviously more can go. But in my experience 4 and more can get crowed whether bigger boat or not. We had 3 and it was perfect each of us caught fish and had picked out which pole we wanted to utilize.

I would suggest calling some fishing boats and see the size of the fish running at that moment in time it seems we got on a lot of fish that were just under the keeping limit. It was fun reeling them in. We caught quite a few, but had to let them go.

If you’re fishing in Wilmington for the first time (like I just did), I highly recommend booking a trip on fishing booker! Definitely book with Carolina Charters (Captain Victor) cause he’s great with beginners!

Call ahead of time and see how the fishing has been In that area, also the weather messed up the fishing for a few days. So plan accordingly we went the day after a storm, but should have waited a couple more days.

This was my first time. Get a guide that can take you to the fish. Oh and maybe lift some weights for a week prior! Lol

Look out for the little nibbler fish on your line robbing you of bait! We may come back in October when they are gone and it's just us and the flounder lol!

Fishing itself is slow this time of year. I knew that when I booked and was not mislead in anyway. Captain got us a fish anyhow. The entire trip was simply amazing ! Saw birds and wildlife and shared some.laughs.

Spring or fall are Better options than mid summer but if you're here on summer vacation try to stick to the morning

There are definitely fish to be caught in June, but the strict regulations will make it hard to catch anything you can keep if that is what you are looking for.

Be sure to book a AM trip. The timing is perfect, the breeze is refreshing, and by the time the charter is done, it’s perfect timing to grab lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Fishing is still good with a good captain however it is not the best time of the year to fish and does narrow the options down on what you can catch

Be prepared to miss more bites than you catch if it’s your first time out or you’re skills are rusty.

Enjoy the experience, the inter coastal has so much to offer and it’s such a great way to look at Wilmington from a different perspective

It was a beautiful December day and it was still cold. The wind made it even colder. Still caught a ton of different species despite it being December.

This inshore trip was easy and fun. Kept my son and I engaged the entire time. Victor was patient and positive all morning. Highly recommend.

I would recommend dressing in a warm jacket if you’re fishing in the morning time. Dress in layers.

We went at the end of August. However, keep in mind that the fishing experience is completely dependent on the weather at the time. Which is a luck of the draw.

I would recommend that you book with Rising Sun Fishing. The captain is super friendly and very personable. We have fished with him 2 years in a row and have not been disappointed.

Wilmington is a great town. You will enjoy your trip here I don’t know much about fishing. I just know I had a really great time. I definitely will be back to fish here again

Joe Currie is great. Everyone caught a lot of fish and my grandson caught a shark. Everyone is very happy and recommends this trip. We will pick him for our next trip.

I would book a trip with Captain Cord he is very knowledgeable of the area and great to talk to while looking for fish.

The water can go from calm to outrageous real quick, but the captain kept an eye out for us and got us back closer to the dock for safety.

It was a little chilly at first, but definitely worth going first thing in the morning to see the sunrise. It was beautiful.

Fishing is fishing, not everyday is a winner. However, be patient, find a great captain, and he will find fish no matter how much travel time there is between spots.

All types of fishing possible, river, inlet coastal waterway, inshore, offshore. Decide which you prefer, then research Captains/options.

Book at least two different half days to max out chance for catching targeted fish. The area is huge
