What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Bay City, Michigan for the first time?

I wish there was a better way to screen guide services. We read reviews but not sure what to believe. In our case we selected Deitrich’s, which was fantastic, but it was a stab in the dark. A guide service is made by the quality of the guide…it’s always about people not the boat. Shane made the day for us.

Bring plenty of water! Chewing gum, forget everything you know about catching Walleye. Captain Shane knows what to do and trust him to put Walleye or any fish in your box!

Be ready for the Action. Check the forecast and temps. Plan accordingly. Hydration is key.

Perfect place to start! It is not as big and rough as ocean charters, but it is very much in line with that experience!

Booked in May because that’s my birthday. Would book again in June or July because I hear the fishing is hotter. Still we had a ton of fun and plenty of fish to take home!

It was cold, damp and windy (this spring has been awful!), but if you like to fish, you can have a very good time.

We didn’t fish Bay City, but Houghton Lake and it was an excellent experience. I’m sure Bay City is excellent when conditions allow!

We fished in late June. We were catching fish all day and there was lots of chatter on the radio indicating other boats were catching fish as well.
