Cape Canaveral has a fantastic fishing scene with something worth catching all year round. The charter captains out of Port Canaveral are a tight-knit group and seem to be much more collaborative than many other locations I have fished. The result is a fleet that is interested in collectively putting fish in the box for all clients.

Best time is April and May. We had a great trip but a lot of the near shore fishing was not so great (for all the boats).

Bring right tackle, talk with locals about fish that are biting. Check 2 or 3 weather sites then dress for the weather and plan for changing conditions.

I would highly recommend the near shore wreck fishing experience for big, good fighting fish.

Check to what is really in season with the captain, not by what the fishing booker website says.

We were afflicted with success and limited out on king mackerel, including a 40 pounder, by noon, so we did some shark fishing and caught a nice 5-6' shark in the afternoon.

If you are interested in fishing for red snapper you need to be aware the season is very short and you should look it up so you know what to expect.

Unless you are into king fish, especially when red snapper prohibited, go inshore or bass fishing in July

This experience was different than any trip I’ve been on. The deepest the water got was around 40 feet and we were told that we had to go out a lot further in order to get into the deeper waters.

Be kind to the mates, even if you don't catch fish they work hard to be on these charters for tips and a dream of maybe being the net generation Captains.
