March is the slow time for fishing in Port Canaveral, but if you find an experienced guide like we did with the Denise Marie you will have a good time. We only booked a 4 hour trip and we caught 5 different types of fish ranging from a 25lb red fish to a couple 16 inch white fish. If you come down during spring break be perpared for rough waters and if you get a good captain he will delay the trip so you don't get sea sickness.

Captain Art does it right. If there is fish to be caught he will find them and get you on them. Captain Art is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. He is passionate about making your fishing experience one you won't forget. Thanks again for another great experience.

We got the choice of fishing for big fish and possibly not getting anything or just fishing. We picked to just fish. We caught 35 Fish and had a blast. No trophy fish but we didn’t care. We wanted some action.

Make sure you verify that the fish you are looking to catch are actually in season at time of trip. Also, may want to know if legal size of fish you can keep. Never thought a fish would be considered "too big".

Make sure you get only the people on theboat that you are expecting to get. A captain and his mate was all we expected but not what we got. Plus the captain promised to send photos he took but we never recieved them.

Plenty of potential. Check the weather forecast first. Was very choppy and windy the day we went and that hurt and fishing experience but no fault of a captain he did the best he could under the circumstances

There is an abundance of sharks so understand that you will have to work hard to keep them away from your catch. It is an experience to see them however it is frustrating when they eat everything you catch.

If you want to send fish home check into it way before you go fishing so you can enjoy your catch back at your home also if you want to eat your catch for lunch that day go just down the road to Grill's Restaurant and they cook it up for you we did wow it was delicious.

If I had the chance to fish Cape Canaveral at any time I would try for the fall of the year. According to Captain Dan that is a good time to be fishing, with opportunities for many different kinds of fish. February can be good, but it is a hit or miss situation. In our case, the fishing had been decent, but the wind switched by the time we got there, and the fish had stopped biting. Temperatures can have a big impact, and it definitely made a difference on the fish the day we were there.

We only caught a few king fish, but some severe storms moved through and messed the fishing up for a while. It was still fun just to catch what we did. When the weather is good, the fishing is awesome.

Take Dramamine or similar starting the day before. Even calm water can effect those not use to water. Start hydrating the day before. Take suncreen, brimmed hat, food and water. If sensitive to sun wear light weight long sleeve shirt and long light weight pants. It can be a long day if not prepared. Capt Tony's boat has a solid covering so you do have some sun protection.

Do your research. Location, time, weather, etc., all contribute to the experience. We went night shark fishing. It was a lot of fun, but the sharks attacked the bait for the first couple hours and then they were gone. In my opinion, set up everything the best you can but then remember, it is fishing. Enjoy it, but remember you cannot totally control what happens. We had a great time though.

If it's your 1st time, it's always best to get a local captain with years of fishing in the area. Fish aren't always in the same spot, and a quality captain will have multiple spots to accommodate the weather conditions, so you can enjoy the catching.

Make sure that your charter or Cpt. can provide what is advertised. LIVE BAIT, FIGHTING SEAT, SECOND MATE OR HAND and specially a boat that is fitted and adequate for the trip.

It seemed that inshore fishing is hit or miss. I guess if I had to do it over, I’d try the offshore trip to see if we would have better luck.

Just make sure in April to check the weather and offshore reports. It can either be great conditions or a bit rough. Just make sure to get yourself out on a nice flat day.

We didn't have any luck out in the boat (3 croakers) but we did catch a shark off the beach which was awesome. Hopefully the fishing is better for you than it was for me.

Be flexible and do near shore fishing if the weather / surf conditions are poor for off shore.

Do a thorough vetting of your charter company. Look at all options before making a decision. Some are great, some not so great.

The captain said that August was a very iffy time for fishing in this area. A lot of chatter of other boats were that of no fish in area.
