Fresh Hingle's Guide Service Fishing Reports
Early morning smackdown!
April 19, 2024
Fished middle Galveston Bay with Denise and her son Jay. Water started off dirty with strong outgoing tide but settled and cleaned up pretty quick after we got tight on anchor. They stayed busy catching nice keeper black drum and fat speckled trout. Finished up their limit at around 0930 then went looking for a wayward bull red but no luck. Ended up a great day with 2 gallon bags of fresh Galveston Bay seafood to enjoy!

Spring time fishing in galveston bay
March 14, 2024
Spring is here and so are the huge black drum and sheepshead. The weather has been really nice and calm winds most days. This has allowed us to get out and have enjoyable trips on Galveston Bay. We are catching lits of huge black drum, sheepshead and some oversized redfish. Up close to the rocks we are catching some pompano and an occasional trout. That fishing will get better in the next few weeks.

Spring Break fishig fun for the entire f
February 7, 2024
Fishing Galveston bay at spring Break is a great way to spend a day outdoors. These trips are family friendly and really laid back. This time of year we really target fish that are readily available, eager to eat, pull hard and taste great. Often called bay snapper, the sheephead is a great fighter, always hungry and the expression when kids see their ugly mug is great. A bonus to these fish is that you can take them to several restaurants on the island or on Bolivar peninsula and have it cooked for you! The other fish that get the nod this time of year is the black drum. 49-50 lb fish are common. It’s a great way for kids and adults get to experience pulling a Volkswagen off the bottom without going offshore. Most of these are over the 30” max legal length so a quick pic and back in the water. As a bonus we usually catch bull reds too. If the drum is the Volkswagen of the sea, the bullred is the Ferrari with reel screaming runs, they will test your skills. Book now before the best days are gone!

Bull Red fishing still on fire!
October 21, 2023
Fishing for bull reds in Galveston bay is still on fire with great catches coming onto the boat this past week. The weather has been really nice now that fall has arroved on the beach. The flounder fishing is still a little behind and we need a couple more cold fronts to drop the water temps. Yesterday water temp was 75 degrees. There have been scatters mumblings of some bird action in upper galveston bay too.

Dog days of Summer
August 2, 2023
What can be said, it is HOT!, the weather that is. Catching redish and trout freelining live shrimp or croaker along the rocks. If you move away from the jetties out on the beach front its sharks aplenty with cut bait. As we move thru August and into September the over sized Red drum (Bull Reds) will start showing in the channel and surf. Have to get out early and get it done.

Slow start but nice finish
May 5, 2023
I picked up the Andersons and ran about 20 minutes to a spot thats been producing nice drum and Speckled Trout. After about sn hour and only one drum in the box and a small trout we ran to the jetties. First stop was at the boat cut, picked up a few shiting, kept one of the bigger ones, moved almost to the end on the inside and nothing at this spot. We moved around to the outside and only had one atlantic sharpnose shark to show for it. On our way back i decided to seing back into the first spot and see if things had changed. The tide had started moving, water was cleaned up and caught four nice Speckled trout pretty quick and a couple of sheepshead. Then it shut back down as fast as it started so we called it and headed in to clean fish.
