The Spanish mackerel fishing was good last week with a large waveof fish moving north. Cobias are here but we cant seem to get the weather to fish for them mostly sight casting around for them. Had some good bottom trips latelt catching some nice sea bass and a couple of early arriving triggerfish. Bluefish around the inlets. Sharks jumped me a couple times last week but it was too rough to really drift for them

Things are a changing!! Nice bluefish and some Spanish mackerel around the inlet today. Water temp close to 70 coming out if the sound. Wreck fishing was steady with plenty of sea bass bites. Did some shark drifting and landed 4 to 300lbs. Cobia fishing is still a few days away. There was some fish caught today but most wouldn’t eat due to cold water. But the migration is in!

Caught the red drum several times this week and i look for the cobia run to kick off any day now. Large wave of hot water and fish in hatteras once the round hatteras well be on them. Plenty of sea bass on wrecks and a great sign of bluefish in the sounds and inlets. I have an all day trip this Saturday ill give an update Sunday

The pictures with this report were from May to july of last season to give you and idea of what’s getting ready to take place Usually around May 7ththe water temps rise and you start to see the arrival of our summer species. Cobia red drum sharks both big and small Spanish mackerel ribbobfish bluefish triggerfish to name a few. Good sign of fishin hatteras now waiting to round cape point and move north on the first good heatwave with wind from the SW. cobia have already been reported in hatteras so next good 3 day SW wind maybe a few will start the move and with them come a wallof bait and life. That kicks off the season!

Nice blues showed up in the sounds and ariund the inlet. Plenty of sea bass on tge wrecks and rocks when we can get out there. A warm water edge shived down last week and brought some larger sharks along hammers and blacktips. Cobia and red drum showed up in hatteras. Good sign look for them when the water temp getsin the mid 60s

Its been tough to get in the ocean here on the outer banks. Strong winds have been keeping us tied up alot lately. I did slip out to the wrecks and caught some sea bass small grey trout and sharkslast week while drifting with with spinning tackle. Looks like the weather is about to turn and fishing should pick up with warming watrr temps next week
