The July4th week turned out to be a good one on the fishing scene here in Nags Head NC along the Outer Banks. We fished several schools of large red drum, caught keeper cobia along with a few releases too. Drifting with spinning tackle has been producing great catches of tasty ribbonfish and just a very very stray coastal shark. The spanish mackerel fishing has cooled down the water was 82 it may have been to hot. Thank you, Devin Cage

The main cobia run is now over with a few scattered fish still being landed. Big Spanish mackerel have shown back up along with plenty of snapper bluefish. Several schools of large red drum have been found along the beaches. I hit a school on 5/15, fish in the 25lb range. Off the beach in the deep blueline tilefish and sea bass are biting. Very few amberjacks right now, maybe next week with a little warmer water temps. Half day fishing trips have been really good this season with the abundance of spansih mackerel. I encountered this school of large red drum while fishing off Nags Head NC. We were smoking the nice Spanish mackerel on spoons when we found the drum on the surface.

Fishing has been fantastic here along the Outer Banks of NC. Plenty of cobias , Spanish mackerel, bonita mackerel,bluefish and sharks. Great action for the first of june! It really looks good,plenty of bait around and the water is warm. Devin

This past week has seen some great inshore fishing along the Outer Banks of NC! Here out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in Nags Head we landed limits of big Spanish mackerel several days with short release king mackerel mixed in. We also crushed the fine eating ribbonfish several days that's always a bonus. On one trip I ran an all-day and caught 93 triggerfish on a wreck! Great fishing and should get better lets roll. The water temp is into the 60s now at Oregon Inlet in Nags Head and waves of life have started to show up in it. Last week the snapper blues showed up in the inlet and on May5 I found big schools of them with 100s of birds working them East of the inlet. There was also a couple of Spanish mackerel caught as well. I hit a 20lb albacore while trolling out a little deeper and caught a slot size red drum as well! Once that water temp hits 67 degrees fishing will go off, its been improving eache week. Look for cobias around the 3rd week of May.
