Despite steady winds and tropical ssystems the fish continue to bite. The flounder have picked up recently and have good size for mid-summer. Croakers have invaded and some have good size. Inlet and ocean fishing have been no go with daily winds. Sharks have kept the big rods bent. Waiting for trout to start showing so we can get some casting in. Stay tuna'd, Aloha

Memorial Day weekend came in wet, blustery and chilly. More like November than May. Striped bass, who love rough weather, and a few flounder kept the action lively despite the condition. An early bite of croakers have kept the youngsters happy with frequent catches and even a few double headers. The forecast is for more seasonal and stable conditions as we move into June. Hosted "Club Brenton" from Westchester NY. today. Big breeze and heavy chop kept the fishing cool but the music was hot! Good fellas having a good time on Chincoteague. Overall the dinner fish (whiting and croakers) have moved in around the inlet. Two more weeks I'll open my shark season. See you then! Aloha

Despite cold, windy conditions with roiled waters, we have managed to put together some good catches. I have to remind myself it's still only April, with plenty good fishing still to come. The star of the show has been the large black drum in the surf. These hard pulling heavy weights average a whopping 30 lbs.! In the bay the flounder are fickle. Some days on, some days gone. The schoolie striped bass have saved more than one trip, with John from WVA. putting on a good show with a fly rod. Warming temps next week should break things wide open. Stay Tuna'd! Aloha

The race is on to post that first flounder here in Chincoteague. Water temperatures are flirting with the low 50's and the days grow longer and brighter. Fished 3 days this week, no bite as yet. Usually we get that first flounder around April 1. This winter was mild so we're hoping for an early start.
