Amberjack and Permit were not in season in April. if you are hoping to keep these you need to check the season. you cant even try for Amberjack out of season as bringing them uo from depth will kill them. so all the videos out there of catching these big fish at the Marathon Humps are only In Season.

We came down for peak fishing season and just got unlucky with a northern wind that day all the captains were complaining about how bad the bite was but we still found the fish

Be prepared to catch a lot of fish. We did a 6 hour trip, wish we had done the full 8. The boat and Captain and mate we had were awesome. My 14 year old daughter had a TON of questions and they answered every one of them for her. Extreme grateful for the time they spent explaining the whats and whys.
