The mission today was to catch a big perch. One really big inland lake perch. It didn’t happen. It was a slow morning in terms of catching the target, but as you can see I still caught perch, and as always the largemouth were eating, including this double on almost legal bass. Fun on small tackle! Another day or two and the cold front will be evened out and the bite will resume.

We continue to find quality perch and a healthy supporting cast of other fish. Lines are tight frequently, with trips improving as the morning goes on. Even after a cold front, there are fish to be caught.

A hallmark late summer trip. Lots of variety. Trip started slow but once the bite started it was on! Perch and panfish were great size for eating, including a master angler pumpkinseed. Added a bowfin, and a master angler bullhead, the cast before the large pumpkinseed. What a fun morning!
