Trip Summary

One more action to not miss the opportunity to share unique experiences with our users. In addition to going to Tortuga Island, on the way we threw more lines about eight miles before arriving, only that mother nature let us capture two mahi-mahi for the afternoon, when we started the return. We ready for crystal-clear waters, stunning views, and a day packed with flavor and fun.
Any questions before departure? We’re here for you. Catch of the day: 1 of 2 Mahi-mahi

When the Ocean Tests the Brave
When the Ocean Tests the Brave
January 31, 2026
The Pacific does not let itself be tamed When the Ocean Tests the Brave The day was born with the promise of a glass mirror, a sunrise so perfect that it looked like a postcard. But the sea is a master of humility, and soon reminded us that its beauty is as immense as its strength. The sky changed, the wind began to howl and the waves rose like silver walls. It wasn’t a day for anyone; it was a day for real fishermen. Our Canadian friends, accustomed to the tenacity of the north, did not take a step back. While the boat danced to the rhythm of angry currents, the adrenaline took control. In the midst of the storm, the Pacific opened its doors to us: eleven candles emerged from the chaos to challenge us. Eight of them accepted the mourning and ended up in our arms for the souvenir photo before returning to their kingdom. To close with a flourish, a beautiful Mahi-Mahi and a Black Tuna joined the party. We returned to the port wet, tired, but with the satisfaction of those who have looked into the eyes of the raging ocean and have emerged victorious. A day for the legend! Fishing Report: The Storm Chasers Session • Technique: Heavy Sea Trolling • Location: Costa Rican Pacific • The Vibe: Resilience, bravery, and high-volume action. The Catch of the Day: • 8/11 Sailfish: Released in challenging conditions. • 1 Female Mahi-Mahi: Pure gold for the table. • 1 Black Tuna: The fighter of the deep. #StormFishing #CostaRicaPacific #SailfishAction #CanadianAnglers #MathisFishingLegends

"No more sancochos, Captain!" — A mid-da

THE PRICE OF CONFIDENCE: Lessons from the Deep Blue The ocean has a funny way of keeping us humble. You can have years of salt in your veins, but the moment you let overconfidence take the helm, the Pacific sends a reminder. Today’s session was a perfect dance between experience and the steep learning curve of the sea. We had three major encounters in just half a day. The first? A classic "pifia"—a missed strike that left us staring at the wake, wondering what could have been. The second was a heart-pounding battle for a young friend on board. In the heat of the moment, the adrenaline was high, but the reel was slow; a split second of slack line was all that beautiful fighter needed to regain its freedom. But as the saying goes, "third time's a charm." The final contender didn't stand a chance. With the lessons of the morning fresh in our minds, we tightened the slack, found the rhythm, and finally brought the prize to the surface. He definitely found out "what was waiting outside" today! Fishing Report: The "Half-Day" Reality Check * Technique: Precision Trolling * Location: Costa Rican Pacific * The Vibe: Humility, teaching moments, and that "sancocho" humor. The Score: * 1/3 Battles Won: A hard-earned victory. * 1 Learning Experience: A young angler with a new story to tell. * 1 "Sancocho": Because even the legends miss sometimes! #SancochoNoMore #FishingLife #CostaRicaFishing #MathisLegends #AnglerExperience #SportFishing #PuraVida #SaltwaterTherapy
