Trip Summary

With the shiners not being present at the launch, its always helpful to have other bait. Did not slow down catch rates, just increased “by catch” on a perch trip. That means more gills and redears than usual. Still adds up to a respectable number of perch and a cooler full.

Being patient

Being patient in late summer is key. Lots of sun and heat push fish deeper and have them waiting to eat during prime feeding windows. After sunset the topwater bite has been solid. Finding large schools of bait helps. Pike were successfully targeted today, but slashed lines like they like to do.
