Trip Summary

There are days when the sea decides to give us an unexpected gift. Despite being in the heart of the winter season, the Pacific opened its pages with crystal blue skies and clear horizons, reminding us that in these waters, there is no off-season for good spirits. We set our course toward "The 26," an area that today became the meeting point for those of us who know that patience is the best bait. We shared the horizon with fellow boats, all of us chasing that water change that promised a great story. Today’s crew was exceptional: "tuanis" people with that relaxed energy that the sea always knows how to reward. We navigated through a visual spectacle of small Mahi-mahi breaking the surface and birds marking our path. Our technical strategy, alternating squid, skirts, and plugs, allowed us to secure nine excellent-sized specimens. However, the moment of greatest respect was our encounter with a Sailfish, which we chose to release so it may continue writing its own legend in the ocean. Between laughs over a Marlin confusion and the adrenaline of a Black Tuna that gave us an unforgettable fight before shaking the hook, we returned to port certain that even when the fish choose not to bite, the experience lived is the most valuable trophy. Daily Log: * Duration: Full Day. * Zone: "El 26". * Captures: 9 pieces of excellent size. * Conservation: 1 Sailfish successfully released. * Sightings: Tuna, little mahi-mahi and seabird frenzy. #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, he gave us a magnificent day in the water: excellent weather in the afternoon, quite beautiful waves and ideal conditions for sailing. We welcome a group of exceptional customers aboard the Mathis with a clear and honest goal: to work hard to ensure high-quality fresh pieces for dinner. Fishing was not easy from the beginning, but the sea always rewards persistence. It required a long and strategic route where we touched different fishing points from north to south. Although our bait cooler came armed with the best - including Blue Runner, small spamers and mackerel ready for the bottom - customers preferred to focus completely on trolling. We adapt immediately to your liking. By systematically testing different colors of feathers, artificial lures and Rapalas, we managed to decipher what the fish was looking for. The reward came in a big way: we managed to capture a mini Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) that was immediately returned to the water it was not very ethical to bring that miniature and five tuna of excellent size for the kitchen, including a Yellow Fin and a Black Fin. At the end of the afternoon the task was more than completed and the cooler was ready to supply a spectacular dinner. You can’t ask for more from a great day at sea with excellent people on board. Thank you very much for your trust! Daily Log: * Captures for the Table: 1 Mahi-mahi, 5 Yellowfin Tuna, 1 Black Fin Tuna. * Effective Technique: Trolling with artificial lures, feathers and Rapalas (adapted to the customer’s request). * Conditions: Pleasant climate, favorable waves, wide coverage navigation (North to South). #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi

Faith Rewarded by the Sea: A 60-Inch Tro
Faith Rewarded by the Sea: A 60-Inch Tro
June 6, 2026
Some days the Pacific decides to settle old scores in the most spectacular way. Today we cast off aboard the Mathis with a couple and their nine-year-old daughter. The father came with a clear mission and a strong faith to break a tough streak: on all his previous vacation trips elsewhere, he had never managed to land a single fish. The playground wasn't easy today; we were greeted by rough swells, high waves, and a passing rain that made the family fear a major storm was rolling in. But persistence on our deck always pays off. On the very first cast of the morning, the reel screamed. After an intense battle against a true blue-water warrior, we successfully brought aboard a massive 60-inch Mahi-Mahi. An absolute monster of a fish that instantly became the trophy of a lifetime. At that very moment it was sad to hear dad say: "Let's go home," the strong waves caused serious dizziness in the mother, so, prioritizing the well-being of the family, he made the tactical decision to shorten the trip and return to port earlier than agreed. It didn't take any more time in the water; the mission was more than accomplished. They returned to land happy, with an indelible memory that is already going straight to become a piece of taxidermy and with the satisfaction of celebrating, as we say, another night "without eating chicken". Daily Log: * Crew:Family Group (Marriage and 9-year-old daughter). * Star Capture: 1 60-inch Mahi-Mahi (Trophy destined for Taxidermy). * Conditions: High and chopped waves with intermittent rain. * Note from the Captain: Early return to protect the health and comfort of the client due to severe dizziness. 100% effectiveness in the first throw! #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi
