Trip Summary

A full day aboard the Mathis allows us to explore every shade the Central Pacific offers, shifting between coastal instincts and deep-blue adrenaline. We launched the first two hours of the morning betting heavily on Inshore action, looking to shake up the dawn with the giants of the rocks. The sea tested us early: we hooked two brutal strikes that pushed our gear to the limit and, in battles that only true "monsters" can deliver, managed to snap the line. Those are the chapters that leave you hungry to come back for a rematch. Following the water's reading, we chose to turn the page and navigate offshore in search of steady action to pack the cooler. The strategy paid off perfectly when we crossed a well-defined current line holding an impressive concentration of Mahi-mahi. Our anglers' efficiency was outstanding, bringing 20 fish to the boat. Keeping our strict commitment to marine sustainability, we kept 15 excellent-sized specimens for the table and safely released the remaining 5 back into the ocean to continue their growth cycle. To close this 8-hour journey on a high note, we headed back Inshore as the afternoon waned. The coastal reef said goodbye with two massive strikes that ripped line with incredible power, betraying the cunning and weight of what were likely large Cubera Snappers or Groupers. A spectacular balance for a day where our guests kept the rods bent, hooking their own fish and living the true essence of sport fishing. Daily Log: * Modality: Full Day (Inshore / Offshore / Inshore). * Captures: 20 Mahi-mahi (15 Retained for dinner, 5 Released by size). * Inshore Action: 4 Massive background spikes (possible Cuberas/Meros) that tested the team's resistance. * Technical Note: 100% of the hooks made directly by our customers. #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #Persistence #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi

Faith Rewarded by the Sea: A 60-Inch Tro
Faith Rewarded by the Sea: A 60-Inch Tro

Some days the Pacific decides to settle old scores in the most spectacular way. Today we cast off aboard the Mathis with a couple and their nine-year-old daughter. The father came with a clear mission and a strong faith to break a tough streak: on all his previous vacation trips elsewhere, he had never managed to land a single fish. The playground wasn't easy today; we were greeted by rough swells, high waves, and a passing rain that made the family fear a major storm was rolling in. But persistence on our deck always pays off. On the very first cast of the morning, the reel screamed. After an intense battle against a true blue-water warrior, we successfully brought aboard a massive 60-inch Mahi-Mahi. An absolute monster of a fish that instantly became the trophy of a lifetime. At that very moment it was sad to hear dad say: "Let's go home," the strong waves caused serious dizziness in the mother, so, prioritizing the well-being of the family, he made the tactical decision to shorten the trip and return to port earlier than agreed. It didn't take any more time in the water; the mission was more than accomplished. They returned to land happy, with an indelible memory that is already going straight to become a piece of taxidermy and with the satisfaction of celebrating, as we say, another night "without eating chicken". Daily Log: * Crew:Family Group (Marriage and 9-year-old daughter). * Star Capture: 1 60-inch Mahi-Mahi (Trophy destined for Taxidermy). * Conditions: High and chopped waves with intermittent rain. * Note from the Captain: Early return to protect the health and comfort of the client due to severe dizziness. 100% effectiveness in the first throw! #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi

Overcoming Heavy Swells in the Blue
Overcoming Heavy Swells in the Blue

What an absolute dream team we had on board today! Despite the storm warnings, there was simply no intimidating these brave ocean cowboys, who alongside our crew—continuing their stellar work—set out determined to win the day. Nature tested our resolve with some truly rugged conditions: five-foot swells and a heavy, relentless downpour. However, aboard the Mathis, rough conditions only bring out the true grit of the anglers we carry inside. Our persistence and bravery didn't take long to be spectacularly rewarded by the Pacific. The action on deck was a pure adrenaline rush, hooking into an impressive triple hookup followed by two consecutive doubles that made the reels scream. By nine in the morning, the scoreboard was already glorious. At lines out, the final tally reached six Yellowfin Tuna and five premium Mahi-mahi. A massive haul that provided more than enough to share around. Today, our guests return to port with a packed cooler, ready to host an unforgettable dinner with the rewards of a battle won through pure courage. Daily Log: * Sea Conditions: Waves of 5 feet and heavy rain due to local storm. * Action on Cover: 1 Triplet and 2 successful Doubles consecutively. * Total Captures: 6 Yellowfin Tuna and 5 Mahi-mahi. * Result: Maximum action quota and cooler full ahead of schedule for dinner. #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi

When the Weather Defies and the Fishing
When the Weather Defies and the Fishing
June 1, 2026
There are days when the ocean rewards those who show up. Today we set out on a trip among friends; too bad for those who missed it at the last minute, because they will surely regret it once they see the logbook results. Although our initial plan was to navigate much farther out, our crew's sharp eyes spotted a beautifully defined current line, and we chose to bet on it. The rain didn't take long to roll in and refresh us with all its power, but aboard the Mathis, fresh water only means the action is about to heat up. The tactical decision couldn't have been better. On our very first drops, we hooked into two spectacular Mahi-mahi doubles that sparked pure adrenaline on deck. Maintaining our strict commitment to sustainability, we safely released a few smaller ones back into the water to let them grow. By the end of the day, the final tally reached ten premium Mahi-mahi and, to crown the journey, four Yellowfin Tuna that didn't hesitate to put up a spectacular, hard-fighting battle. We returned to port with a packed cooler—plenty of fish not just for an incredible dinner, but to share with everyone. Daily Log: * Type of Trip: Departure of Colleagues / Friends. * Captures: 10 Mahi-mahi Selected (several juveniles released) & 4 Yellowfin Tuna). * Conditions: Intense tropical rain and navigation on a very active current. * Result: Cooler to the maximum with premium quality fishing for consumption. #CostaRicaFishing #SeaLegacy #AnglerSkill #SailfishRelease #SportFishingCostaRica #SportfishingLife #MathisFishingLegends #MahiMahi
