Overcoming Heavy Swells in the Blue

We cast off early for a high-intensity, 5-hour morning charter aboard the Mathis with a very clear, ambitious objective: head offshore, rig up the Ballyhoo, and track down the titans of the Central Pacific. Our strategy took us about 25 nautical miles out, exactly where Captain Jorge calculated the blue currents would be holding the action. The ocean rewarded our precision beautifully. In just a few hours of tactical offshore trolling, we achieved what many hope for in a full day. We successfully brought to the boat two massive, spectacular Sailfish, three hard-fighting Yellowfin Tunas, and a gorgeous Mahi-Mahi (Dorado). Seeing our guests' faces as their fishing dreams turned into reality right on our deck is exactly why we do this. For the limited time we had, the results were absolutely extraordinary. We headed back out for another 5-hour afternoon run aboard the Mathis, driven by that undeniable itch to get back on the water. This time, we accompanied a close friend who sought the ultimate refuge. To be completely honest, anyone in his position would do the same—escaping the heavy weight of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to find a moment of absolute sanctuary. At its core, that is what fishing is truly about: leaving the world's burdens behind on the shoreline, clearing your mind, and resetting your spirit while the ocean washes away your worries. The Pacific welcomed us with open arms and immense generosity. Our therapeutic afternoon turned into a non-stop action session, successfully bringing home nine Mahi-Mahi (Dorados) of various sizes. Needless to say, there will be no chicken on the menu tonight; instead, our guest is heading home with an incredible variety of premium, fresh fillets for home-cooked meals. On Thursday, June 11, 2026, he gave us a magnificent day in the water: excellent weather in the afternoon, quite beautiful waves and ideal conditions for sailing. We welcome a group of exceptional customers aboard the Mathis with a clear and honest goal: to work hard to ensure high-quality fresh pieces for dinner. Fishing was not easy from the beginning, but the sea always rewards persistence. It required a long and strategic route where we touched different fishing points from north to south. Although our bait cooler came armed with the best - including Blue Runner, small spamers and mackerel ready for the bottom - customers preferred to focus completely on trolling. We adapt immediately to your liking. By systematically testing different colors of feathers, artificial lures and Rapalas, we managed to decipher what the fish was looking for. The reward came in a big way: we managed to capture a mini Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) that was immediately returned to the water it was not very ethical to bring that miniature and five tuna of excellent size for the kitchen, including a Yellow Fin and a Black Fin. At the end of the afternoon the task was more than completed and the cooler was ready to supply a spectacular dinner. You can’t ask for more from a great day at sea with excellent people on board.
