Trip Info

Summary

Baited up (pogies - one throw and go with an 8’ cast net) in 17 ft of water off the St Augustine Light House. Ran a couple of miles out (stopping once to oh and ah at a pod of dolphins) and put the baits in. While putting the fourth bait in the water the out rigger bait got ate - 8# Bonita. 3 baits out again and the down rigger goes off - 25# King Mackerel. This is fun. Then the puppy sharks (Atlantic Sharp Nose) take notice - we’re even catching them on the outriggers. A couple more smallish (6-8#) kings, many more sharks and then the down rigger goes off big time again - 18# King. Time to try something different - Barracuda Request. Ran 5 miles further out to some structure and putting the fourth line in it gets eaten out of my hand - 15# ‘Cuda. Baits out again - double on - lost one and caught a 12# Bonita and it’s time to go home. OUTSTANDING 4 hour trip 5 kings, 2 bonita’s, 1 ‘cuda, and only the Man know how many puppy sharks. I’m ready when you are - Lets Go Fishing. See you on the pond, Capt. Guy
