Trip Summary
Greetings from the Flamingo everglades,
Our weather is fantastic, and we are excited to continue to welcome our friends from the North. Currently, we are enjoying a good Redfish, Black drum and Speckled trout bite! Recently, we had Dr. Howard aboard and we made a run West to block a North wind. After our first stop we came across a solid school of juvenile tarpon. Howard and I threw everything at them, including the kitchen sink! with no luck, it wasn't until we switched to flies, that we got some interest. Doc and I jumped multiple Poons in the 30-70 lb range but couldn't bring any to the boat. A quick run South found us baby Snook, multiple slot Redfish and a few black drum. Later in the day, as the sun crept above, we sighted and incited a Tripletail to bite! Indeed, that was the highlight of the day.
The Poons took light colored flies, and all other species took artificial Gulp shrimp paired with 40 lb floru leader.
See you on the water!
