Sea Trial Fun

Trip Summary

Had a little work done on the boat and wanted to run it before my next trip. My dock neighbor Randy and his girlfriend hoped on and we figured we would make the most of a sea trial. I wanted to take a look as well at an area we’ve been seeing a lot of fish on our return at the end of the day. We trolled around for a while and saw a lot of fish. We only managed to get one to bite and it was quickly released. We also raised a marlin, but it didn’t want to eat either. We were just offshore one of our reefs, so we trolled back to it picking up a couple live Bonita for bait to see if maybe there was a black marlin around. Well we got a bite, but it turned out to be a nice rooster that attempted to eat about a 14” Bonita. We started back to the marina and hit a couple bottom numbers on the way to see if we could find dinner and managed to pick up a nice grouper and congrio. Based on the number of fish we saw and marked, I’m hopeful we’ll be having a close bite here pretty soon and can take a break from the long runs.
