Up early and headed over to Cozumel Island at 4:30 AM. It is a good hour to 1 hour fifteen minutes to get across, but the the trip is worth it as we often see a lot more action on the south side of the island. Unfortunately this day did not yield much, only 1 Mahi Mahi and 1 barracuda. But the trip was amazing, flying across the Caribbean Sea from the Puerto Aventuras marina to Cozumel Island in the black of night, watching the light slowly creep up over the horizon, until finally the sun broke through to light up a new day. Just incredible. Our Pescado Adventures crew have been debating whether or not to offer this trip to clients but are still on the fence about it. Fuel costs are high because of the distance to cover and also because of the speed at which we travel. We will probably do a few more trial runs before making a final decision. At the very least it is an unforgettable day out at sea.
