Trip Summary

The big fish are getting hungry. Surface temps in the mid 50’s means fish are moving into shallower weed beds that are getting sunshine and are still green. They are on the prowl for young sunfish and other forage, which are in large schools right now. Should stay good for a little while longer too!

Goodness we got into some big ones. We caught several bluegill knocking closely on the door of 10”, which in Michigan means Master Angler bluegill. A few solid green sunfish added to the fun. Mosly spawned out females and males. A few large females still had eggs and were promptly released. On lightweight fly and spinning equipment these things are a battle!
