Trip Summary

Big Fish. Big Flavor. Big Fun. Let’s Go! Lingcod Season Opens May 1st — and Captain Dan is Ready to Roll! The coast is calling and the monsters are waiting. Lingcod season kicks off May 1st, and Captain Dan is heading deep into the rocky haunts where the big ones live — savage, wild, and ready to fight. Special Launch Offer: Book a 5-hour trip and Captain Dan will add a 6th hour — free. That’s an extra hour on the hunt — a $150 value — just because real adventures shouldn’t be rushed. We’re talking bent rods, wide grins, salt spray in the air, and the kind of battle stories you’ll still be telling years from now. And if you’re lucky (and polite), Captain Dan might even cook you his legendary Pan-Seared Tomato Basil Lingcod — fresh from the sea, kissed by fire, and cooked with love the old-fashioned way. This is the season of bold moves, deep water, and wild hearts. Catch the fish. Earn the feast. Live the story. Adventure. Battle. Victory. Maybe Lunch. Spots are limited — and the fish are hungry. Book your Lingcod trip today and step into the kind of adventure most people only dream about. Captain Dan’s Pan-Seared Tomato Basil Lingcod Fresh lingcod fillets (caught by you, if you’re doing it right) Sea salt and cracked black pepper Olive oil Fresh basil leaves Cherry tomatoes, halved Garlic, minced A splash of dry white wine A squeeze of fresh lemon How to cook it: Season your fillets with salt and pepper like you mean it. Heat a skillet with olive oil until it’s good and hot. Sear the fillets until golden brown on both sides — crisp outside, tender inside. Toss in the garlic and cherry tomatoes — let them sizzle and fill the air with pure magic. Add a splash of white wine and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Scatter fresh basil over the top and let it all simmer until the fish flakes perfectly. Cooked fast. Cooked fresh. Always cooked with love. Best served hot, with cold drinks, great company, and a grin you can’t wipe off

“The Rod, The Song, The Chinook” ? TD Coastal Adventures – Campbell River, BC ?️ July 20 Sunset Charter ? “Dust in the Wind” playing as the reel screamed… ⸻ Some trips leave you with fish. This one left us all with goosebumps. The sea was glass. Sunset glowing behind the islands. The kind of evening where the water holds its breath. Mark and his family were on board The Barb, chasing memory, chasing meaning. He said to me, quietly: “All I want is to fight one good Chinook before the light fades.” Not even five minutes later… Bang. Rod down. Reel ripping. The No Bananas Spoon we’d set at 120 ft in 140 ft of water went off like a cannon. Mark got his fight. And the Chinook didn’t give it up easy. It dove, it twisted, it tail-walked and slammed the rod like a steel freight train from the deep. He fought it like a warrior—and he won. But that’s not what made this night legendary. A second rod popped. Another big fish. Mark’s teenage son looked unsure. It was quiet. You could hear the wind stop. I leaned over and said: “Step up, son. This is your moment.” He did. And with the whole family watching, he fought that Chinook like he was born to guide. 14 lbs. 75 cm. Keeper. A memory burned into the soul of that boy forever. ⸻ ? Here’s what you need to know: • Location: Lighthouse Ledge • Depth: Fishing 120 ft in 140 ft of water • Lure: Custom No Bananas Spoon • Result: Two epic Chinooks. One legendary family moment. ? TD Coastal Adventures – Fishing Report ? The Hump – Lower Section, Campbell River BC ?️ July 15, 2025 ? Target Species: Chinook Salmon ? Lure: Custom No Bananas Spoon ? Depth: 195 ft ? Zone: The Fish Highway ⸻ Report: The Fish Highway was firing today off the lower section of The Hump, and two seasoned guests — Oleg and Igor from Toronto — made it count in true TD Coastal fashion. Both Chinook strikes came on a custom “No Bananas” spoon running deep at 195 ft, dialed in tight just above the shelf. These were classic Campbell River fish — aggressive, thick-bodied, and built for battle. Igor was up first, locking into a deep-running slab that gave him a full 20-minute slugfest before surfacing. After an epic fight, he chose to release the Chinook with full respect — a true West Coast moment. Oleg followed with a war of his own. Four hard runs and deep dives later, he brought his fish to the boat clean, calm, and earned. Both strikes hit within the same hour — clear sign that the Chinook are staging deep and tight on the bait lanes. The key takeaway today? ? Fish deep. Troll slow. Stay on the seam. And if you’ve got a No Bananas spoon — use it. If not, book with Captain Dan and I’ll bring one. ⸻ Current Notes: • Bait balls showing tight to bottom in 180–210 ft • Best bite time: 7:30–9:15 AM • Tide swing: Moderate flood tide • Water clarity: Good • Wildlife seen: Eagles, porpoises, and one curious seal ⸻ Captain’s Note: “This wasn’t just a good day — it was a day the sea remembers. Oleg and Igor brought patience, power, and respect. That’s what Chinook fishing on the coast is all about.” — ? Now Booking: Chinook runs continue strong through late July. ? Sunset Big Fish, Morning Missions, and Salmon & Seals charters available. ? **hidden content** |
