My kids had a great time and finally like fishing

5 Hour Trip – Offshore5 adults1 child

After some initial confusion about how to get to the boat, which Jose worked me through in real time, my family of five got on the boat for our trip. My kids have little experience fishing, and no experience catching anything, and I asked for the opportunity for them just to get their first fish on a boat; this may have been my last opportunity to make them realize that fishing ins't just sitting on the water waiting for fish that never bite. And Jose and Mike got them there quickly. They were patient and made sure that we got our catches. Nothing huge on our trip, but the fish were plentiful and this was a highlight of the trip for them. We took our catch to the restaurant Jose recommended, and had a fantastic meal. Now my kids want to plan another fishing trip. Thanks guys!

    Amazing inshore trip!

    Jose and Esteban were the best! From the moment we got on the boat we knew it was going to be a good day. They were clear with our plans for the day, and how to maximize our time on the water. The bite was slow but we still had action all day. Through out the day the ensured that we were comfortable and had plenty to eat and drink. And above all I can thank them enough for getting me on a beautiful Rooster Fish! I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a Costa Rican fishing adventure. Pura Vida!

    La sortie de pêche a été un moment exceptionnel, les garçons ont adoré, les deux capitaines étaient géniaux, dans le partage, la gentillesse et l’envie de faire plaisir. Les garçons ont pêché plusieurs types de poissons grâce a diverses techniques de pêche que le personnel d’équipage leur a montré. À midi, nous avons pu manger le thon que mon fils avait pêché dans un restaurant de Quepos, c’était super. De plus, il y avait des boissons et des snacks sur le bateau. A 11h nous avons pu manger un ananas frais, un régal. Je recommande vivement cette sortie.

    The Perfect Final Chapter to any Costa Rica Adventure

    Hidalgo Fishing delivered exactly the experience I was hoping for—and then some. From the very beginning, communication was excellent, making everything simple and stress-free. The harbor was easy to find, parking was safe, and the entire operation felt professional, organized, and welcoming. The boat was clean, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a day on the Pacific. The captain and mate were outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. They had us catching live sardines quickly and prepared with plenty of bait to maximize our time on the water. Once we reached our second spot, the action started immediately. While the roosterfish I was hoping for never showed up, the ocean still delivered with plenty of fresh tuna—more than enough to enjoy for days. The conditions were perfect, the fish were biting, the drinks and snacks kept coming, the music was on point, and the entire day had that unmistakable Pura Vida energy. But what made this day unforgettable was more than the fishing. It was the combination of being out on the open ocean, surrounded by incredible scenery, great people, and that rare feeling of being completely present in the moment. Hidalgo Fishing was the perfect way to close out my Costa Rican adventure. Some moments are impossible to capture with a camera—the sound of the waves, the excitement of the bite, the laughter, the feeling of the ocean breeze, and the memories created along the way. Those are the moments you carry with you long after the trip ends. Highly recommend Hidalgo Fishing for anyone looking for an authentic Costa Rican fishing experience and a true Pura Vida adventure.

    This is my 7th fishing trip with my family. The first 6 were done in the US both inshore and offshore. I have to say this is the best one we have done. Jose greeted us at the entrance and guided us to the boat. Our captain Tito and first mate Esteban were so great. Very personable and hard working. The drinks and snacks were an added bonus for the kids. The Bimini on the boat keeps you in the shade. Didn't catch the sailfish I was hoping for vu these guys tried had. We did catch a ton of Mahi. I wish the crews in the States were as happy and personable as these guys. I would book them again in a second so don't hesitate. We did the 5 hour offshore trip.

    Sashimi on the boat!

    Captain Jose and First Mate Esteban absolutely made our trip phenomenal - they’re a top notch fishing team and even better as people. We had a slower start to the morning, but these guys worked tirelessly to track down the bite, and it paid off big with some Mahi Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna. Their knowledge and positive energy turned what could’ve been a tough day into a memorable one. On top of that, they cleaned our tuna right there on the boat and whipped up some of the best sashimi my wife and I have ever had, fresh off the line. If you’re looking for a charter out of Quepos, do yourself a favor and book with Hidalgo Sport Fishing. Jose and Esteban are the best of the best, and we can’t wait to fish with them again!
