We had an outstanding day on the water with Captain Jon. There were five of us, and from start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making for a great experience before we even dropped a line in the water.
Captain Jon worked hard all day to put us on fish. He was upfront that the Spanish mackerel hadn’t really arrived yet, but we gave it a shot and managed to catch one. When it became clear the bite wasn’t where he wanted it to be, he quickly adjusted the plan and took us shark fishing—and that’s when the action really started.
We caught several different species of sharks, including two massive 60-inch blacktips that put up incredible fights and made for some unforgettable memories. It was obvious that Jon knew exactly where to go and what to do to keep us on fish.
As a bonus, Captain Jon filleted some of the shark for us, and we cooked it back at our Airbnb that evening. It was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to cap off an amazing day.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, hardworking captain who is focused on making sure his guests have a great experience, we highly recommend Captain Jon. We’ll definitely be booking another trip with him the next time we’re back in Hilton Head!

the trip was a great time overall for my brother and dad. Originally went off shore to attempt trolling without much out there that day unfortunately (thats how fishing goes). The captain mentioned going back closer to shore and go shark fishing instead could be more sucessful and oh man he was right! not long after casting out some lines my brother got hooked onto a nice 5 foot black tip! it was a great fight and plans to be mounted in the future to remember that day! though I didnt catch anything between spending time with brother/dad and my brother snagging that large shark it was more than i could ever ask for!

We just got off our charter today, Captain Jon was great and he brought his dog Tinker along with, too.  Tinker is a great first mate, he kept the kids entertained while the fish werent biting.  It was a little early in the season still, which I knew prior to getting in the boat, so we went jnto the day not expecting much.  After a slow start we got a trout, then about 30 mins later some whiting got under us and we caught a handful of them and then a sting ray got away just as it got to thr surface.  Towards the end of the trip, we got a little Bull Shark - absolutely made the kids day!  highly recommend, and we will be reaching out to Capt. Jon again next time we’re in the area.

Captain Jon was up front with us about the not promising fishing report from the week, but worked hard to make sure we caught something! By the end we reeled in a ~6ft black tip with a good challenging fight. The 2-hour trip made for plenty of time to enjoy fishing and still have time to enjoy the island. The added bonus was the first mate, Tinker, and his encouraging paw pats! 😉

Though we didn’t catch any fish for dinner,  the Shark fishing turned out to be an awesome experience. we caught a 55 lbs bullhead. Our second catch felt more heavier, lets us wrestle for a good 40 mins and tored a lip, Captain said must have been 7 to 8 Ft size. Definitely coming back to finish the match 🙂.
