Trip was fine if all you wanted was a boat ride. Captain seemed to be primarily interested in trolling for small fish with heavier tackle, I think for him to keep and take home. I wanted to cast light spinning tackle at fish under birds. There were plenty of birds around, but the captain insisted on trolling slowly from one area of diving birds to another. He could have brought in the trolling rods and motored quickly from one feeding school of fish to another to get me some action. I caught one skipjack tuna on spinning gear. There was no livebait on board, despite the description of the trip saying there would be. Late morning when there were fewer birds around we headed closer to shore near the river mouth and the skipper obtained some livebaits from a fellow captain. All three livebaits were eaten, with one breaking off and two not hooking up. Most likely big jacks the Captain said. In the course of the trip two brown booby diving seabirds were hooked on the trolled lures. I found this quite upsetting and the crew could be more proactive in trying to prevent this happening (e.g. pulling lures out of the way when the birds dived). If you are an inexperienced fisherman or just want a boat ride, this trip will be okay for you. I was disappointed overall.
