Had a great captain and crew. Just no luck this afternoon. This has an afternoon trip. Captain said they didn’t even catch anything in the morning, very rare to not to catch anything all day. Only one pile is birds to focus on late in the day. Usually following the birds is key.
We had an incredible morning fishing with Captain Cruise (5 hour). The fishing was phenomenal—we brought in four mahi-mahi, an ono, and a tuna! Captain Cruise is a total pro; he’s extremely knowledgeable about different techniques, the land and water. He was a friendly, accommodating guide throughout the trip. The absolute highlight, however, was when seven humpback whales surfaced right next and under our boat. It was a massive adrenaline rush and something we’ll never forget. After the trip, Captain Cruise filleted the mahi for us, and we made fresh poke and fish tacos back at our condo. The mahi tacos freshness and kiss of the grill were the best our group has ever had. We had an amazing day. Kevin and Cruz were truly pleasant, passionate, and professional. I had an unforgettable experience, and thanks to their experience we managed to bring a wahoo onboard—even while it was being attacked by a shark at the same time. Without their expertise, it would have been impossible. I highly recommend Bob Marlin Charters. My only regret is not having booked more than 5 hours—or more than one day—out on the water, and not having had the chance to leave them a bigger tip because they absolutely deserved it.
Cruise and G were great guys! Very friendly, sociable, and made us comfortable the whole way! We caught a great skipjack and they cut it and bagged it for us after taking pictures. They worked hard to get us to the fish, and gave us directions/tips while still letting us reel in our catch ourselves and cheered us on the whole way! High-fives all around!

We didn’t catch anyting but hooked into four big Mahi & Tuna bit were unable to land them on the boat. I felt Cruise did everything he could to try and help us get a fish on the boat. The reality is that sometimes you just fish and don’t catch. However, we did see over twenty Humpback Whales playing and breaching the surface so that was pretty awesome! 🐋
