Flounder are tasty Flatfish that hide on sandy bottoms and strike fast. Flounder fishing in Florida, United States is popular because these fish thrive in warm bays, inlets, and estuaries statewide.

Most trips target Flounder with light tackle while inshore fishing. Captains often use bottom fishing with live shrimp, mud minnows, or finger Mullet, or jig soft plastics along the bottom. Slow drifting or working near docks, bridges, and jetties triggers bites.

Charter days are usually short runs to calm, protected waters. This suits families, beginners, and anyone who enjoys steady action and great table fare. Bring sun protection, polarized sunglasses to see the flats, and a small cooler for your fillets if allowed. Many captains supply bait and tackle, but confirm before you go.

Flounder show up across Florida’s coasts. On the Gulf side, look to Pensacola Bay, Destin passes, the Big Bend grass flats, Tampa Bay, Sarasota, and Charlotte Harbor. On the Atlantic, check the Jacksonville inlets, the Indian River Lagoon, Mosquito Lagoon, and the deeper edges of Port Canaveral and the Space Coast. Focus on tide movement around channels, oyster bars, and sandy drop-offs.

Regulations can change, including seasons, size limits, and daily harvest. Check Florida’s current fishing license and permit rules, and review local season and harvest guidance for the area you will fish before your trip.

Me hubiera gustado atrapar algunos hogfish

Capturamos 9 Spoted Sea trout. Algunos groupers todos fuera de medida y un Flounder. Todos inshore aunque creo haber hecho el booking para la pesca offshore

    Great trip with Captain Tim

My buddy came in from Texas and we had a great 1/2 day tour with Catpain Tim, MM Charters. We caught about 30 fish each, including a nice flounder keeper. Also caught some small grouper, bonnet shark, puffer, toad fish, and many others. Tim played whatever music we wanted (country of course) and shared his fishing knowledge and techniques. Also got see some dolphins, sting rays, and pelicans fishing alongside us.

    great inshore trip

i booked this trip for my son and I, it was awesome. We showed up, got on the boat and headed out. The first spot we fished both my son and i hooked up to fish. The captian was patient with us and very insightful giving tips and explaining what to do. We caught about 20 fish together ranging from reds to flounder and trout. I am looking forward to going out again soon!

    Awesome first charter!

Captain Jason was on top of the fish right away. We caught white grunt, flounder, and mackerel. Even caught several red grouper but they were too small to keep. What a great experience. The only complaint was we should have booked a longer trip!

    First-Time Giggin’

After a full day of rain, the weather cleared just in time for our charter with Williamson Flounder Gigging. We brought in 3 flounder along with mullet and sheepshead, and as a first‑time gigging trip, we were thankful for the experience.
