Halibut fishing in Ucluelet, British Columbia, Canada draws anglers for big, hard‑fighting Flatfish. Pacific Halibut live on the sandy bottom offshore, and grow to impressive sizes. Ucluelet sits on Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast, close to rich feeding grounds.

Most crews target Halibut by bottom fishing in deeper offshore water. Captains use heavy rods, braided line, and circle hooks to keep fish pinned. Baited rigs and large metal jigs work well while drifting or anchoring over productive bottom.

Trips usually run from the harbor straight into Pacific waters on stable, well‑equipped boats. Your captain supplies quality tackle, bait, and safety gear, and explains each step. This experience suits first‑timers, families, and seasoned anglers who want a strong fight and tasty fillets. Dress in warm layers, pack a rain jacket, sunscreen, snacks, and motion‑sickness medicine if needed.

Before you go, review British Columbia saltwater fishing rules. Make sure you have the correct Tidal Waters fishing license. Check current seasons, retention, and daily possession rules, as regulations can change. Your captain can help point you to the latest guidance, but you are responsible for compliance.

    AMAZING!

My son and I had the ultimate experience fishing experience thanks tonCapt Lauriette. He was awesome and this trip is unforgettable. The Capt really worked hard to give us the experience we wanted. We caught our limit of Chinnook and Coho, a ton of rockfish and we even headed to deeper waters for a halibut. The experience could not have been better.
