Inshore Fishing in Florida

Inshore fishing in Florida is simply inexhaustible. Blessed with amazing opportunities and over 1,100 miles of shoreline, The Sunshine State never fails its anglers. You’ll hardly find a time or place on these shores where the fishing is poor. With so many people coming back to fish each year, it’s understandable why lots of them eventually decide to move here entirely.

What to Expect

When you’re fishing with a guide in Florida, you don’t have to purchase a fishing license – your captain’s license covers everyone on the boat. Your fishing equipment is included as well, while some captains also provide snacks and drinks during the trip. Most fish species you can catch here are delicious and, luckily, most guides gladly let you keep whatever is legal to take. You only need to find a good restaurant nearby to enjoy your freshly caught meal.

Inshore trips are usually a perfect choice for families with kids. The little ones have fun catching the bait fish and they can also learn how to use the rod. If they’re not used to being on the water, you can book short trips, lasting for only two hours. As they take place within 3 miles of the coast, you’ll stay protected from choppy waters. Fishing doesn’t have to be your only activity, and lots of guides combine fishing with sightseeing.

What to Catch

You might think that the list of possible catches is shorter once you narrow your options down to inshore fishing. Big game species may be off the list, but that still leaves you with Redfish, Tarpon, Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, Cobia, Spotted Seatrout, Kingfish, Flounder, Jack Crevalle, Grouper, Black Drum, Tripletail, Permit...and the list goes on. Most of these are available throughout the year, while some show up seasonally. It all depends on which part of Florida you visit. You can always ask your guide what’s biting when you’re planning to book a trip.

Florida inshore fishing trips are so diverse that they can fit virtually every angler’s needs. Whether you’re experienced or a first-timer, whether you’re dedicated to learning something new or just want to enjoy a drink on the boat while occasionally casting – you’ll find your trip here. There are plenty of fishing guides to choose from and each of them will gladly share the experience with you.

It was absolutely a great experience. Fishing in the early morning might be a better idea and don't expect that you will find the type of fishes you want. Availability are varies and it's always a surprise on what you will reel in. As first timer, just be patience if you haven't able to catch anything on the first try

Donโ€™t forget that what you catch can be your dinner. Several restaurants near the harbor, such as Dewey Destinโ€™s, can prepare your fish any way you like with all the sides. DELICIOUS! I recommend bronzed or blackened. Thanks for the memories.

If you can book a trip late May prior to schools getting out and summer kicking off youโ€™ll have a great time. I suggest a weekday as during the weekend it get really busy on the water and beaches but our Saturday trip was still very do-able and a great time! Zero complaints about the charter and the area we selected
