Every year for my son's birthday, we make it a tradition to travel and find a fishing trip for him. This year was truly special thanks to this amazing guide.
My 8-year-old said, "Give him 5 stars; he was awesome!" My husband couldn’t agree more, praising the guide's expertise and the friendly way he engaged with our son.
Thank you for giving my son such a memorable experience. We’re already looking forward to returning this summer for another adventure with you!

I did forget to mention that although it was “appropriate” for my younger grandsons the fishing was really beyond their age level I would say at least 10 years of age. They enjoyed watching and one boy got to real in a smaller fish

Don’t set expectations too high. Weather in June fluctuates and can change fishing conditions. Captain Jeff made alterations to the line set up to try to catch more.
Bring sunscreen, snacks, and a love for being on the water and you will have a blast regardless. But Jeff will do his best to get you fish. Fish for dinner for us tonight!

Go before Labor Day. Check local fishing reports like Tangled Tackle and others for local info. Stay at the Orchard Beach State Park - great facilities and it's just 5 minutes from downtown Manistee.

Manistee is a good place to base a fishing charter. The town offers everything you need but still has a "small town" atmosphere. The Manistee Hotel is a good place to overnight before a morning charter.

Fishing in and around Manistee Michigan is good mostly year around. You can catch anything from pan fish to Salmon.

Usual tip range for first mate is 20-25%
Vary accordingly based on catch, overall experience and personal preference

Early July seems okay there was fish to be caught just not huge numbers, I guess it really depends what you wanna catch

James Stephenson
Talk with local fisherman and bait store to get the current fishing situation and what to use and species to target

Dress appropriately open water winds can get nippy I wore sweaty and thin sweats and was shivering closer to the end of night

John Arvan
It was a bright sunny and exceptional flat water afternoon in May - we were told it’s a little early in the season and the flat water and bright sun makes catching tough.

Jeremiah Brandon
Verify spawn conditions before going. If the spawn is over the fish leave the river. Can’t catch what’s not there.

We unfortunately came the day after they had really bad north wind storm. None the less we still caught Salmon and had a great time!

Get a knowledgeable guide or captain. If you're not sure about if you get sea sick take medicine before you go out. Dress appropriately. Lot's of sites to see

Contact Captain Lenny and be ready to be ready to crank away bringing in your own monsters of Lake Michigan. Worth every penny.

Get up early and take the morning fish trip and be prepared for a lot of excitement
