What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Frankfort, Michigan for the first time?

You can never depend on mother nature. Always bring appropriate clothing. If you're river or boat fishing, don't always expect to go home with your limit. It is the experience in the knowledge you gain that is beneficial.

Be sure you are going when the waters in lake michigan in the Frankfort area are sufficiently warm enough, if you are targeting salmon or lake trout. I learned that the bait fish scram to warmer waters elsewhere, and the salmon and lake trout will follow thier food.

Very pleased with our catch, we brought in for king, salmon, but unfortunately let a couple get away. Fishing was great and they really started hitting around 9 AM.

Bring some motion sickness medicine if you're afraid you're going to get Motion sickness take it before your ride

Great place to vacation! Lots of little shops and restaurants to find outside of fishing trip. Beach is amazing if water is warm enough.

My experience has been to book a trip in mid May for lake trout and steal head. Book a trip around mid August for Kings and Coho.

Be prepared for the water to be a bit rough this time of year. Be sure to check out the light house and the nice town of Frankfort. Bring good layers of clothing.
