What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Gloucester, Massachusetts for the first time?

Give yourself time to explore the city. Lots of beautiful sights to see and explore. Ask the captain for advice on places to see and things to do. Bring ice and a cooler to keep your cleaned fish cold and fresh.

Double check the weather with cap if you think you might have seasickness. Also ask for recommended clothing. If you want to process and cook the fish yourself, ask for the safe and appropriate ways to handle the fish.

We wanted to also add my girlfriend's perspective. She greatly appreciated the way Matt showed patience towards a novice fisherwoman and exceeded her expectations for a bucket list fishing trip.

Think of a way to get your fish home. We didn't have a good way to ship fish home and wish we would have been able to

Bottom fishing--100%. It was a bit slow on the Striper Bass as the water was cold, but the bottom fishing was HOT

This was our First Time Fishing Gloucester Ma. I would absolutely recommend this Trip! We had a Great Time!

yes. we had a great early start that slowed in the afternoon, but the hook ups were great when they happened.

The mackerel didn't cooperate, so we weren't able to use live bait (which is a ton of fun). Even so, we managed to get 11 stripers to the net in less than 5 hours. It was a ton of fun!!

If you're a first timer or worried about seasickness, look for a charter that offers inshore or shorter 3 hour trips.

I would say Slacktide is the best experience Ive ever had and captain Matt truly blew my family away with his beautiful boat and immense knowledge

We did well in September, but the captain said June and July would be better for Haddock. Even though we caught some haddock, we hope to be back during peak season.

scout where your are suppose to meet your captain so you can find it in the early morning. We did and it was worth it.

Killed the Stripers fishing from shore in Salisbury! Hogg Tide Bait was a great help for bait and equipment!!!

Yes! The captain was very hands on in helping us with the different type of fishing rods for the different sized fish we were catching, etc.

We had a lot of activity at the places where we fished and the location is easily accessible via the highway.

I have no idea we went once might’ve been a bad day, average day or great day.

Don’t bother with a poncho. It gets in the way of fishing and the sea will get you wet anyways.

Get to the dock early enough to settle in and relax. Great fishing trips start at the dock.

September is a very good time if you are looking to cat stripped bass or bluefish

It’s the beginning of the season so warmer weather days will be best from what I learned.
