Communicate you expectations to your captain. Trust him to advise you on weather and what's biting. Your captain wants you to have a great experience and will try really hard to show you a great time.

flounder were plentiful in the right locations. Jacks showed up in force. Spanish mackerel could be found. If you are looking for good fishing look no further. Sports fishing and food fishing were both on the menu.

Show up to fish. It’s not about catching. It’s about fishing. Caught the hell out of them one day with it the next. Still better than any day spent in the office or out on any job at work. Don’t show up out there with a crap attitude. Show up to fish.

Hire a good Captain. Most captains work with each other on a radio telling each other where they are finding fish, helping their clients catch fish they are looking for. Was impressed with how the captains of the boats work with each other trying to give everyone a great experience.

Gulfport, MS is a fast-growing community, but with that laid-back Southern atmosphere that makes you feel at home the minute you arrive. The fishing opportunities are quite extensive and priced in a range that will not break the bank. The charter captains I have met are all friendly, outgoing and hold a wealth of Gulf fishing experience - - These are captains that go fishing when they have a day off from Charter fishing go fishing for fun or sometimes to hone (figure it out) yet another aspect of Gulf fishing. Give 'em a try - you won't be disappointed. Cheers!

If you are taking children, Captain Ben is your guy. Captain was the grandfatherly type and was great with the boys. They could relate to him. So patient and upbeat.
And he taught them so much. They can’t wait to go back with him and his mate, Hudson. The caught fish!!!

Amazing experience with Captain Chris and his deckhand (can’t remember his name) the weather can be unpredictable. Cool one minute and hot the next. Just pack a sweater or light jacket to be able to take off.

Invest a little extra time in researching the prospective providers. Read the reviews. Make a selection. Be sure to verbally convey to your Captian and 1st mate regarding your level of experience with fishing. They are there to assist you in an enjoyable excursion.

Book your trip for early in the morning. We booked a full day trip, but it was shortened to a half day due to extreme heat warning. We are thankful to have had a captain that kept safety in mind first, and still got us out to get an amazing fishing trip in!

Try a charter. Several guides worked together to put us on the fish. It was an awesome experience.

Just come with food and drinks. Maybe do an arm workout in advance so you’re ready to fight the Jacks.

We had a great time being our 1st trip, however our captain did tell us fishing was slow and it’s better in the Spring. We were still pleased with our catch.

Absolutely!! This is our 5th time out with this captain. Always a great trip and he works really hard to find and put you on the fish. Will be back next year

We caught some white trout and baitfish. We had a storm roll through about an hour in. Cooled things off and was beautiful fishing weather!

The local Captains work together to get their charters where the fish are. If you’re fishing Gulfport, book a local charter.

Maybe get recommendations on scheduling and duration. 4 hours and bad timing on tides maybe a problem

October is a great season to fish. Once it gets cold around 50°-60° the bite will slow down a lot.

Remember it is fishing! And you never know what to expect. But hopefully you will have a Captain like Brian Ware nuff said.
Christopher Smith
Definitely book with the fish trap. October is the end of the season but Dustin know the area and where the fish are.
Carrie Branscum
Ben was the greatest Cpt and Luke was awesome. They exceeded my expectations and we cant wait to go back with other family members.
Ken Jones
Ask questions as the captain was great about communication about that to expect and and needs you have

Gulfport is a decent place to fish. You just need an experienced captain. I suggest Salinity Matters. A captain with over twenty years of experience fishing in the gulf.

The bite is definitely hotter in the morning, but with the right captain, you can catch 'em all day long.

Yes, but if you’re not from the Ms area and decide to go in the summer then prepare yourself for the heat. It’s no joke
Vince Mcclammy
Be ready to move with the fish. Some areas will be great for a little while then turn off. We followed the fish and caught all d

If it’s your first time target a multiple activity charter that can change and try to put you on a variety of species so you hopefully do not have an uneventful day.
