Bucket List Marlin

Trip Summary

Just wrapped up our first trip after being in the yard for two months and it couldn’t have gone any better and the new engine ran flawlessly. We were joined by Tamas and Jess from Tampa with the dream of catching a marlin. We started the day off on a large school of spinner dolphin and pretty quick work of putting six tuna in the boat. Knowing that we had plenty of meat onboard, it was off to try our luck at finding that marlin. We put the spread back out and headed off for cleaner water. After about an hour of searching we finally started to see it clean up and we had that bite we were looking for. The fish just piled on the bait and screamed for about 30 seconds without showing itself. I pretty much knew it was the bite we were looking for but bit my tongue for what seemed like an eternity. After a solid hour long tug of war, Tamas was able to release that dream marlin(250#) and it just couldn’t have happened any better. After a short rest, he wanted to see if we could find a couple mahi, so we switched up and headed in a bit. We managed to top off the box and called it a successful day. We even managed to beat the rain back to the dock. Such an awesome day when things go as you hope for. #quepossportfishing#manuelantonio#fishingcostarica#marinapezvela#travelcostarica#fishing#billfish#squidnation
