Some of the equipment is brand new, while some has been in use, but all gear is well maintained and in proper working condition. As one of the few hands-on charter where guests are encouraged to handle the rods and actively fish, we make it a priority to have a full range of functional and reliable equipment on board.

It’s also worth noting that saltwater fishing gear is inherently heavier and more robust than freshwater/lake equipment in the great lakes of Canada, even at high quality levels, due to the size and strength of the species targeted.

We understand that you may be accustomed to specific or top-tier setups at home, and for that reason, we are always happy for guests to bring their own preferred gear if they have particular expectations.

Prior to the trip we discussed the different fishing options available considering your request. Targeting offshore species such as striped marlin, large tuna, and sailfish while also pursuing trophy roosterfish inshore and maybe snorkeling is not realistic within a 4-hour charter, so the decision was made to focus the trip on inshore fishing for roosterfish.

The boat was fully equipped with bait and tackle including ballyhoo, lures, poppers, and jigs to provide the best possible opportunity during the trip.

Considering Tamarindo operates within a protected national park where live bait cannot be caught or purchased in advance (as explained during the trip) - live bait must be caught during the trip itself. This is standard practice for all fishing charters operating from this area.

Our crew always does its best to maximize fishing opportunities and provide the best possible experience within the time booked and the local regulations.

We are glad you still had a great time aboard and caught many fish like jack crevalles and spanish mackerels as well as great hookups on big cubera snappers ! Thank you for fishing with us!
