Captain Hagen and his son, Flo, the first mate, made my daugter and I feel like expert anglers—giving us excellent advice with how to use live bait and telling us interesting things about the island. And we caught barracuda! My daughter hauled in one that was more than four feet long. Amazing. Captain Hagen cleaned two of our smaller fish for us to cook, and told us he helps feed a local family with the catches that customers don’t take. We highly recommend Calypso.

We went fishing with Captain Hagen and his son Flo for 5 hours on the morning of July 1, 2025, and had a terrific time!  Hagen is so knowledgeable about the island and its history - not to mention fishing and the island’s land, air, and sea life.  On the fishing trip, we caught black fin tuna, bonito, and bar jack - and ate sashimi right on the boat.  My family of four, including two teenagers, had such a great time that we booked Captain Hagen again a few days later for a snorkeling trip,... All 4 of us caught good size Barracudas, that the Captain cleaned and filleted for us.  we were able to take back to our resort and make a delicious dinner.  Whole trip was pleasant and we highly recommend. we were an adult family of 4 parents and 2 daughters.  if you want to be very active while fishing maybe not for you as they did everything but bring the catch in for us!!!

Our 5 family members joined Capt and his son for great day on the water. 2 wahoos and a trigger fish. Capt was friendly and made us feel welcome. Chatted with us the whole trip, about Bonaire, fishing, life on the island. Will definitely fish with Calypso again on out next trip here
