With a very specific objective to complete the Marlin Grand Slam, I booked a charter with Black Marlin Sportfishing for a full-day trip on November 8th, 2023. Immediately after completing the booking procedure, Captain Manuel reached out personally to welcome our party to his list of clientele and provided important logistical instructions to ensure a smooth fishing adventure. Also, given my pre-occupation with landing a striped marlin—the last marlin species on my bucket list—the captain arranged our trip to improved our odds of securing the target species. And did the captain and his first mate, Jose deliver beyond our expectations! We successfully landed and released two beautiful striped marlin who provided us with an acrobatic show and some of the longest tail walks experienced in more than two decades of big game fishing. But the captain and Jose had more in store for us. Perfecting the pattern to long line troll with live mackerel, the strike of a lifetime occurred just 30 minutes after the second striper. After ensuring a solid hook set, I took over on the fight of my life with a 400-pound early season blue marlin on the end of the line. Both crew and angler were in awe as this 11-foot long king of the deep greyhounded in full display over heavy seas—the cover of marlin magazine had nothing on these visuals. Through impressive boat handling and sage guidance from both captain and mate, we were able to land and leader release the trophy after suffering through an intense 90 minute fight on 30-pound class tackle. It was truly a memorable day all of which was made possible by the professionalism and commitment to customer service Captain Manuel and Jose exhibited through the planning and execution of our trip. I would highly recommend them as a priority charter—they will be our first choice the next time we visit Cabo.

Catching a Marlin has long been on my bucket list. Captain Manuel and his crew mate made my dream come true. I’ve fished in the Florida Keys, Canada, Alaska and throughout the US, but this was a trip I’ll never forget. The Black Marlin crew was outstanding and went out of their way to make our trip a success. We caught several fish during our 5 hour trip included an 8-foot, 125 lb. Striped Marlin!
We also hooked another Marlin, but we weren’t able to land him. All in all, it was worth every penny and I highly recommend Captain Manuel and his boat the Black Marlin!

My son and I went to Cabo to fish and fish only and booked the black Marlin,  Best decision we ever made,  the captain treated us more like fishing buddies than a client,  We caught fish and had a blast doing it.  I would highly recommend using this charter,  I know for a fact that i will book the same trip every year going forward.     

DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP WITH LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE ON THE DOCKS TRYING TO TAKE YOU OUT.  choose a captain before you go and enjoy your trip don’t spend your time worrying about a few bucks.  pay the money and enjoy yourself.   

The captain and crew were great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Great English. Knew exactly where to take us and what baits to use. We caught 4 fish total, including a Maui dinner and 2 large marlin! One marlin measured 113 inches, the other was 95 inches.

The check in is very odd. they take your names and go get fishing licenses, leaving you at the gate to the dock. this takes 5-10 minutes. After taking off from the dock they have to show the licenses to the mariana, this takes a few more minutes.

Over all a great fishing experience that exceeded our expectations.

Been deep sea fishing in Aruba, Costa Rica and Belize.  Aruba and Costa Rica were major disappointments.  Belize was great, but this trip will be the one all others, past and present, are compared to.  Took the two son-in-laws and we had a great 5 hour trip.  3 Mahi Mahi, well maybe only two since one was stolen mid-fight by a sea lion pirate and 4 Black Marlin, which was AWESOME, since non of us had caught this species before.  All 4 were roughly 100 #s each.  Great trip and will definitely book here again.  Manuel and Jose definitely knew their craft.  Thanks mucho!
